Role

Splunk is looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Splunk Web Platform area to manage the Design System team. The team’s charter is to accelerate and scale UI and frontend development at Splunk. This team is composed of software engineers, and works closely with our Design Team. We are focused on enabling internal teams as well as external developers to build applications faster with consistent and reusable experiences, libraries, utilities, components, and tools. You will be responsible for leading a team of highly capable and committed engineers engaged in design, development, and delivery of a design system, libraries and tools. Our ultimate goal is to enable development of next-generation user experiences for Splunk’s customers. You are an experienced leader and expert in front-end technologies.
Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional team members to develop and maintain a well-defined roadmap, while balancing technological excellence.
Lead technical direction and architecture with engineering team members.
Facilitate coordination of one or more scrum teams to successfully deliver committed feature sets.
Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.
Build a culture of continuous learning, growth, and sharing of technological insights.
Educate and advocate for engineering best practices within the UI ecosystem.
Recruit, mentor, and develop world-class engineers.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of learning, psychological safety, respect for differences and collaboration across all engineering skill levels.
3+ years of experience in product engineering leadership roles directly managing highly technical engineers.
8+ years of product development experience building rich user experiences for scalable products, ideally in web or mobile applications
Proficiency in modern web technologies; JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Storybook, i18n/l10n, a11y, etc.
Experience building design system and component libraries and frameworks on an enterprise level
Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple complex technical projects in an agile environment
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent practical experience

Note: Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and benefits, and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

OTE Pay Ranges

For sales roles the ranges are expressed as On Target Earning or OTE (OTE = base + incentives in the form of sales incentive plans).

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

On Target Earnings: $163,200.00 - 224,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), New York (excludes NYC Metro Area), and all other states.

On Target Earnings: $148,000.00 - 203,500.00 per year
