Instructional Accessibility Specialist

The Instructional Accessibility Specialist will collaborate and consult with faculty and staff to enhance pedagogy and improve student learning in all instructional modes (traditional, hybrid, and online), with specific emphasis on Universal Design for Learning principles (i.e., multiple means of representation, multiple means of action and expression, and multiple means of engagement) in support of accessible instructional materials and practices. The incumbent will apply sound learning theory and principles as well as current instructional strategies when collaborating with faculty/staff in the design, development and delivery of educational materials for a variety of subject matter areas with emphasis on accessibility. Incumbent will work with colleagues to share research on best instructional practices, technology solutions to improve student learning, and assessment of learning outcomes for diverse learners through individual consultations, workshops, online resources, and other methods. Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.
Required Educational Qualifications and Field of Study

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience

Three (3) years progressively responsible relevant experience that include experience using standard and adaptive technology software packages and technology to develop accessible instructional materials (e.g., graphics and multimedia, screen capture software, JAWS, ZoomText etc.). Experience using course management systems and collaborative tools (e.g., D2L, Camtasia, and Skype for Business).
Working knowledge of major operating systems (i.e., iOS and Windows) and common software application packages (e.g., MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite).
Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work Experience

Master’s Degree; instructional design, instructional technology or related field preferred.
Prior work experience in higher education preferred.
Prior experience teaching/training users (instructors, staff, students) on effective uses of accessible instructional technologies preferred.
