Accessibility Technology UX Design Lead

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced UX designer with in depth knowledge of ADA guidelines and industry standards to join the team to leverage their expertise to ensure that project design efforts are successful within in technology projects across many teams. The selected candidate will be equally passionate about making technology accessible to those with disabilities. Some of a successful candidate’s responsibilities include:

• Produce and deliver project accessibility standards design reviews
• Develop and maintain organization-wide ADA design standards
• Identify and implement design process improvement opportunities
• Lead the development, maintenance, and delivery of design related training to partner technology teams
• Function as the resident accessibility design expert
• Participate in team collateral development and evangelize accessibility messaging

Required Skills/ Key Skills or Knowledge Requirements:
• Detailed knowledge of WCAG 2.0/2.1, ARIA standards, and other industry guidelines related to accessibility technology
• Expertise with industry leading AT applications and functionality such as: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, and others
• Competent understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and methodologies from waterfall through agile programming practices
• Strong UX, UI, and related design experience
• Impeccable communication and excellent organizational skills
• Creative self-starter who brings challenges to light along with proposed solutions and is able to balance line of business needs with that of our disabled customers
• Ability to adapt to change and effectively prioritize work to meet competing deadlines

Career Experience & Educational Requirements
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
• 3 years web/mobile platform UX design experience employing ADA standards/WCAG 2.0 Guidelines
• 5 years design related experience within the web/mobile platform application development arena

Desired Certification:
• IAAP, WAS, CPACC or other accessibility certification(s)
