Perkins Access, a boutique accessibility consulting agency within the historic Perkins
School for the Blind, is experiencing tremendous growth and is seeking a Senior
Accessibility Consultant to join our mission-driven team whose goal is to make the
world more accessible to people with disabilities.

What You Can Expect in this Role
In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients by helping them deliver accessible customer, employee and brand experiences while also contributing to our continued growth as a consulting business. You will lead engagements with clients in a variety of different industries and guide their digital inclusion strategies and help them build and scale their own accessibility programs. You have both design and technical expertise as well as an expert knowledge of current accessibility standards. You are a proactive, life-long learner who has a proven track record of delivering exceptional digital accessibility services to clients.

We’d love to talk with you if you are interested in having an impact by:
Assisting clients with developing strategies, roadmaps, policies, procedures to advance and scale their enterprise-level accessibility programs.
Providing technical solutions and remediation guidance to clients to help remove accessibility barriers from digital experiences.
Reviewing design systems, style guides, wireframes and early digital prototypes to identify potential accessibility barriers while advising clients on inclusive design best practices.
Conducting manual accessibility audits of digital properties, inspecting web code or native apps and identifying accessibility issues using a variety of assistive technologies
Conducting user testing, typically of designated use cases, with people with disabilities
Writing reports to deliver expert accessibility insights and testing results to clients.
Creating and presenting training materials

Knowledge and Skills
Proven track record of directly advising clients about inclusive design and digital accessibility standards and best practices.
Expert knowledge of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, The Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508, evolving accessibility standards and VPAT.
Skilled with HTML, CSS, and WAI-ARIA (JavaScript a plus).
Adept at conducting manual accessibility testing of websites, mobile apps and digital products using assistive technologies such as screen readers (e.g. JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and magnification software.
Experience with automated accessibility testing tools and how to interpret / prioritize results.
Proven ability to develop and offer technical solutions, training and guidance to web developers, designers, and software engineers.
Experience with mobile app development and mobile accessibility testing.
Knowledge of standards that apply to accessible multimedia.
Ability to create accessible electronic documents (MS Office, GSuite, PDF).
Prior experience with project management platforms (such as Asana and Basecamp), collaboration platforms (Slack) and bug-tracking systems (Jira).

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as computer science, digital design, or user experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital accessibility or a combination of 5 years of experience in digital accessibility, software development, digital design for user experience.
IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), a plus
Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certification, a plus
