Advertised Job Summary
The Director of Digital Accessibility is responsible for overseeing all University of South Carolina efforts to offer inclusive, usable digital content and technology for those with disabilities and every other member of the extended UofSC community. The Director is an expert in digital accessibility, including interpretation of WCAG guidelines, implementation of solutions to meet those guidelines, manual and automated testing, and documentation of accessibility compliance (e.g., VPAT ).
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master’s degree and 6 years related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong understanding of WCAG guidelines along with direct experience interpreting issues and recommending solutions is required. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written communication skills, and presentation skills are required. Must have experience collaborating with others across departments and job levels, including reviewing work and offering feedback to high-level stakeholders. Preferred Experience – Direct experience and proven success with digital accessibility remediation and strategy. Certification in digital accessibility (e.g. International Association of Accessibility Professionals Certification). Direct involvement in prior large-scale accessibility remediations and strategic planning initiatives
