Nelnet, a leader in the student loan industry with a #1 core value of focusing on the customer, seeks a caring, creative, and motivated person to join its Accessibility Team as a Web Accessibility Intern. The Accessibility Team collaborates with innovative product teams throughout Nelnet to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and to provide superior customer experiences for everyone. This role will focus primarily on evaluating product accessibility, reporting bugs and recommendations, and helping teams find solutions.


EDUCATION:
Pursuing degree in an IT-related field

REQUIRED SKILLS
1. Passion to help others and think creatively from different points of view.
2. Experience with front-end development, design, and quality assurance activities.
3. Uses written and verbal skills to communicate ideas effectively.
4. General understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

DESIRED SKILLS
1. Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0/2.1 (But my school doesn't teach this yet, you say? Never fear! We'll get you up to speed quickly. But while you're at it, tell your school that accessibility matters and should be teaching more about it!)
2. Experience with online team collaboration and defect tracking software.
3. Familiarity with assistive technology like Siri, Alexa, VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, etc. and a curiosity to experiment with tools like these.
