Basic Purpose

Oversee and support the development and delivery of a transformative digital experience for people with disabilities. Assist with the strategic execution of reliable, fully functional, and user-friendly digital products. Develop ADA digital compliance programs.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of ADA experts that work in collaboration with product owners, designers, developers, management, and scrum teams
• Develop market, industry, and competitive insights to identify potential opportunities or threats
• Establish and oversee a thorough audit and evaluation process to include TPGi, vendor audit, exception creation / user testing processes, in addition to guidance for remediation
• Create a uniform ADA accessibility review process and bring in new tools to support that process
• Manage the ARC Pro finding remediation process
• Lead cross organizational ADA Task Force and support enterprise-wide Human Resources ADA initiatives
• Monitor and analyze changes to applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations; develop and recommend action plans for implementation/dissemination to management; assist with coordinating changes and the development of training as needed
• Co-facilitate live, in-depth accessibility training for the development teams
• Provide ADA-compliant solutions to everyday problems while complying with goals and deadlines
• Coordinate representation and represent Navy Federal Credit Union on W3C’s Accessibility Guidelines and ARIA working groups
• Work with the ADA Committee and ADA Sub-Committee to improve organization-wide ADA policies and represent the Human Resources department in ADA Committee meetings
• Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities
o Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
o Establish performance goals and priorities
o Prepare, conduct, and review performance appraisals
o Develop, mentor and counsel staff
o Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
o Ensure section/branch goals and objectives align with division/department strategy
o Ensure efficiency of operations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Extensive understanding and familiarity with multiple web accessibility standards and guidelines, how to meet them, and an understanding of legal regulations, including trends in case law
• Experience with the development of websites, web-applications, and mobile apps
• Advanced knowledge of accessibility barriers and how people with disabilities experience digital content, as well as the tools and techniques to identify accessibility issues
• Advanced knowledge of accessibility standards and policies (e.g., WCAG 2.0 (A & AA), ARIA, ADA, Section 508, 21st Century Video and Communications Act, etc.)
• Exposure to multi-platforms, and cross-browser testing and knowledgeable of trends for new browser versions, mobile devices and/or other digital applications
• Advanced knowledge of assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, alternative input, etc.)
• Working knowledge of accepted accessibility patterns and best practices, including solid understanding of HTML and CSS fundamentals and use of ARIA
• Ability to communicate to a wide range of project stakeholders (e.g., Executives, Managers, Designers, Developers, etc.)
• Ability to guide and coach colleagues and clients in one-on-one, small group, or large forum environments
• Effective skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes
• Ability to operate comfortably in a multi-task/multi-priority environment across project teams
• Experience organizing sprints and communicating requirements
• Experience in Internet or mobile usability/accessibility research

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in Scrum and Agile methodologies
• Working knowledge of development and automated testing tools/frameworks (e.g. Cucumber/Gherkin, Selenium, SOAP-UI, HP ALM/QTP, JIRA, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures
• Experience working with Oracle, Service Now, and employee intranet sites

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.

Salary Range: $85,500 -$146,300 annually
