Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in technology related field

Trusted Tester, Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies, or other certification

Current knowledge of ADA, Section 508, Section 504, and WCAG 2.0/2.1 (A, AA, AAA)

Knowledge UX and Inclusive Design process

Experience mentoring others in methods and techniques for addressing accessibility barriers

Experience in training

Knowledge of Web Accessibility Initiative – Accessible Rich Internet Applications, User Agent Accessibility Guidelines, and Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines specifications

Knowledge of connecting campus digital accessibility policy to our work

Job Description:

Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to form a new team of information technology professionals dedicated to developing and supporting The Digital Accessibility Lab.

The Digital Accessibility Lab opened in 2019 and is included in several grants with faculty. It is important to sustain and create partnerships across campus for research. Our work involves creation and review of websites, apps, games, course materials, and other digital products, and is supported through collaborative grants with faculty.

In this position you will work with both departmental and campus partners to discover and implement new solutions regarding digital accessibility. Participants will have varying levels of experience both in IT and with digital accessibility. Communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to relate to all levels of experience, will be critical to success. Creative thinking and experimentation are strongly encouraged. New processes can be explored, and additional projects can be added to enrich both personal and professional growth.

Example of Duties

Manages day-to-day operations of the Digital Accessibility Lab

Provides technical support and troubleshooting for various hardware, software, operating systems, equipment, game consoles, and assistive technology

Prepares documentation

Reviews software for accessibility compliance

Reviews games for accessibility compliance

Researches and purchases hardware or other equipment

May train or oversee student employees

Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems

May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
Provides guidance to students
