The ICT Accessibility Specialist works with the ADA Compliance Office, Procurement, Information, Technology, and Consulting (ITC) and other Dartmouth offices in the process of determining the accessibility of computer products and though an exception process. The ICT Specialist will manage all phases of the analysis and exception processes for software using Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) and developing potential accommodation recommendations. In addition to providing direct service to institutional constituents, the ICT Specialist will work to develop trainings and other documents pertaining to accessible computer products.

Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science or related discipline.
3-5-years’ experience in a related field.
Expertise and understanding WCAG standards and their applicability to the ICT environment.
Knowledge of computer systems and the ADA, and other applicable disability/accessibility laws.
Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to multi-task and set competing priorities.
Ability to collect, interpret, and synthesize information from various sources.
Understanding of assistive technology and its applications.

Research and review contracts, literature and exception requests on proposed software that does not meet WCAG 2.1AA standards.

Review Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPAT)
Review Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR)
Make recommendations regarding accessibility limitations for end users
Evaluate exception requests and make determinations/recommendation on impact

Description
Develop potential accommodations or solutions to inaccessible products.

Work with Dartmouth Disability and Access Professionals to suggest accommodations for individuals using inaccessible products/software
Work with vendor to better understand how to create access using specific platforms.

Description
Develop and deliver training related to WCAG (current version) standards and their applicability to the accessible procurement process.

Create trainings (online and in person) for members of the Dartmouth community to better understand Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Create trainings for Dartmouth community on use of WCAG guidelines in their work.

Prepare materials, maintain database records, prepare reports

Creation of annual report regarding requests for accessible product exceptions, accommodations.
Maintain accurate records in database.
