The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.

We are looking for a Digital Accessibility Officer to work within the Communications Directorate in the Digital Team. The Digital Team is responsible for SQA’s customer facing websites and applications.

This role requires a talented individual who has a professional understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and how to apply that to web content.

The successful candidate will support embedding SQA’s digital accessibility vision and objectives.

To do this, you must be able to demonstrate skills and experience in the following areas:

Auditing digital services for WCAG 2.2 AA compliance
Using automated accessibility tools
Conducting manual accessibility tests
Creating and maintaining accessibility statements
Experience of applying and implementing regulations

It would also be desirable if candidates had experience of:

Knowledge and application of W3C web accessibility standards
Understanding of legal compliance requirements
Experience of content management systems

Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 (e.g. SVQ4/Degree) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role. International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) certification would be beneficial but not essential.
