Digital Products creates value for our clients, their employees, and their customers. We design and build software that changes the way people work and live. With expertise in product strategy, project management, QA, design thinking, user-experience design/research, and impeccable development for native mobile, web, and embedded systems, we will help bring clarity to any omni-channel product vision.

THE WORK:

We are seeking a Front End Development Manager with a depth of knowledge in all things Accessibility. Our candidate will not only be able to demonstrate their knowledge and sensitivity to the access needs of people with disabilities, but also their experience in digital accessibility standards and best practices. We are looking for someone who can work together with Product and Technology teams in creating accessible digital products in conformance with accessibility standards. Our main goal is to help our internal and external teams create inclusive digital spaces.

A successful candidate will be passionate about accessibility in the digital space, with a knowledge of accessibility barriers and the tools and techniques for overcoming them.

Identifying and suggesting potential solutions for accessibility barriers

Applying accessibility knowledge to a wide range of the firm’s digital properties, including mobile applications, and digital documents

Coaching colleagues and clients in one on one, small group, or large forum environments

Using data on accessibility issues within products to identify, report on and drive improvements to the product features

Qualifications

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

5+ years of experience and advanced knowledge of core web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript

3+ years of experience in driving accessibility in digital, customer facing programs or functions

Experience with mobile platforms for both web and native accessibility, including Android and iOS

Hands on experience with Assistive Technology (e.g screen readers, magnifiers, alternative input, etc.)

Written and verbal communication skills - able to present status, facts, thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise, convincing and organized manner

Coaching developers and UX designers in one on one, small group, or large forum environments

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

This role may require you to be eligible for Federal security clearance

English is required for this position as this role will regularly interact with stakeholders across Canada, US and other countries across our Global footprint where English is the common language. Due to the significant high volume of interactions with these English-speaking stakeholders, which is inherent to this position, it is not possible to reorganize the company's activities to avoid this requirement.

BONUS POINTS IF:

Bilingual in English and French would be an asset

Experience with a broad range of technologies: Web accessibility on various platforms including Windows and MacOS

PDF accessibility and other digital document standards

Familiarity with modern web application development practices and popular JavaScript frameworks

Familiarity with Web accessibility standards (WCAG, WAI-ARIA)

Familiarity with accessibility automation testing tools (Axe Core, UsableNet, SiteImprove)

Deep knowledge of cross-platform and browser compatibility issues

Video Captions and other digital media

You have experience working at an advertising/design/consulting agency or web startup

You've led a team in the Agile/Scrum process to deliver as part of a cross functional team and develop large-scale, enterprise software

You are experienced in creating project estimates, defining scope requirements, and structuring projects

You possess strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced production deadline-driven environment both internal and client facing

Comfortable speaking technically and speaking non-technically and able to bridge between the two.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, strategic partner relationships at the Executive Level as well as supervisor level

Able to successfully multi-task across tactical and strategic initiatives

High degree of initiative and autonomy coupled with an ability to function successfully as part of a team (in person and virtual)

Consulting, influence, and negotiation skills to achieve desired outcomes that inspire action and trust from stakeholders

Innovative and creative thinker; able to generate new ideas; forward-thinker; thought-leader

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation, based on full-time employment, for roles that may be hired in British Columbia as set forth below.
