Overview

We are seeking an experienced PDF Accessibility Remediator to review, audit, and assess remediated PDF files for compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1, PDF/UA, and Section 508. The ideal candidate has advanced technical knowledge of PDF tagging, structure, and assistive technology testing, along with sharp attention to detail for identifying and documenting accessibility errors.

Key Responsibilities

• Review remediated PDF files to ensure proper accessibility tagging, structure, and reading order.

• Validate compliance with Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and PDF/UA requirements.

• Identify and document errors, incomplete tags, or incorrect reading sequences.

• Provide clear, actionable feedback to remediation teams for correction and optimization.

• Use tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, CommonLook PDF Validator, PAC 2024, or similar software to test and verify accessibility.

• Verify accurate use of semantic elements, alternate text, bookmarks, lists, tables, and form fields.

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent accessibility standards and best practices.

• Maintain tracking documentation for quality reviews and project metrics.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience remediating and reviewing accessible PDFs.

• Strong understanding of PDF/UA and WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.

• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and validation tools (PAC, CommonLook, axesPDF, etc.).

• Demonstrated experience using assistive technologies such as JAWS or NVDA for accessibility testing.

• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.

• Experience working with large volumes of documents under tight deadlines. Preferred Qualifications

• IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Accessible Document Specialist (ADS).

• Familiarity with accessibility standards for other digital formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML).

• Experience working in a government, education, or compliance-driven environment. Key Attributes
