Digital Accessibility Systems Analyst

Required Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
Evaluates software for accessibility conformance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA success criteria and aligns to ISU digital accessibility policy.

Knowledge of training and course design.

Knowledge of WAI-ARIA, UAAG, and ATAG specifications, and/or willingness to learn.

Proven ability to develop tools/resources to help provide implementation directions and requirements for accessibility in mind approach.

Trusted Tester, CPACC, or other accessibility certification, or willingness to obtain within 3-6 months of hire.


The Digital Accessibility team works within Information Technology Services (ITS) to provide enterprise-level support, services, recommendations, policy, and guidance to campus. Your skills and expertise will contribute in part by managing the review of digital products for accessibility compliance while applying a working knowledge of current assistive technology. You will be part of connecting the campus digital accessibility policy to our work and guiding our campus partners in effectively implementing digital accessibility best practices into all facets of the university’s digital infrastructure.

Creative thinking and experimentation are strongly encouraged while new processes can be explored, and additional projects can be added to enrich both personal and professional growth. It is important for our team to sustain and create partnerships across campus to promote innovation with digital accessibility embedded into faculty and staff research projects. Our work involves evaluating websites, apps, games, course materials, and other digital products for screens used in the daily life of students, faculty, and staff.

Assists in the analysis, design, and implementation of software/systems technical support and operating system capabilities.

Example of Duties

Evaluates software for accessibility conformance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA success criteria and aligns to ISU digital accessibility policy.
Gathers data on software and systems used for accessibility and assistive technology.
Triages incidents, involving moderately complex systems with more intricate solutions. Determines when it’s appropriate to escalate issues to ITS administrator teams.
Utilizes specialized knowledge on assigned high visibility systems and major structural software used daily by the university (specifically web accessibility, course accessibility, and closed captioning software as a service).
Diagnoses technical problems, and identifies resolutions to emergent issues, and educates others on the team to ensure knowledge is shared.
Identify potential user implications resulting from changes in the system.
