Accessibility Design

Ensuring everything we design and build is both accessible and inclusive has long been a priority for us at Deloitte Digital. We understand the huge responsibility we have to create products and services that meet the needs of all humans and have the least number of barriers possible.

We’re looking for purpose-driven accessibility specialists to help embed best practice accessibility methodology into our design and delivery processes. You’ll work with teams to ensure deliverables meet WCAG standards, advocate for diverse perspectives, help build our in-house capability and lead on finding innovative solutions for all users. You’ll be working with leaders on the cutting edge of accessibility, and outstanding talent across Deloitte Digital to create inclusive solutions for iconic brands. Our ideal candidate is confident in explaining and implementing accessibility standards, regulations, and best practices including the latest WCAG guidelines.

Your role

You will work with outstanding digital talent across disciplines to innovate and create great solutions for iconic brands.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

Develop creative and innovative accessibility solutions that adhere to organisational and WCAG guidelines
Reviewing the state of accessibility on live or test digital services
Working with BAs to define accessibility requirements
Working with developers to educate them on how to build in an accessible way
Working with QA to test to ensure accessibility solutions are effective and successful, and to educate WAs them on how to test for accessibility
Coaching with delivery teams to bake accessibility into the process
Championing accessibility throughout programme/product owners to ensure buy-in
Develop technical remediation plans for improving the accessibility of digital services
Collaborate with your team to implement accessibility solutions

Location: London Through our studios spread across the globe, we help our clients imagine, deliver and run the future, through from customer research right through to implementation. And we love doing it. This role is based in our airy and bustling offices in Clerkenwell, London, with its legendary coffee machine and model train track, you’ll also have a chance to work with clients throughout Europe and beyond.

Work pattern: This is a permanent contract opportunity. The role can be worked on a full-time / part-time basis.

Your professional experience

Overall, you’re an ideas person and problem solver as well as a hands-on doer – that’s important. You know it takes a mix of people to do amazing work, so you love collaborating with and learning from people with different skills, backgrounds and perspectives. If you have an interesting or unusual mix of skills yourself, even better.

An accessibility certification or qualification (please note, this is not mandatory)
Experience producing or assessing digital products that adhere to accessibility standards
Experience with accessibility evaluation tools such as Chrome accessibility developer tools, ally, aXE, Inspect, WAI toolbar
Experience teaching or training people on effective uses of assistive technologies
Experience with assistive technologies (eg, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
