Inclusive Design Specialist

We are currently recruiting for an Inclusive Design Specialist in Toronto, ON for an on-going contract opportunity. Our ideal candidate has five years of experience as an Inclusive Design Specialist with transformation projects. The Inclusive Design Specialist will champion inclusive design and web accessibility across our clients customer-facing experiences. They will provide accessibility design leadership, expert guidance, coordination and support to the digital team. They are responsible for promoting, assessing, and reporting on inclusive design and web accessibility for our clients digital products. This is a unique opportunity for an energetic individual who is looking to grow both in this field and their career.

The Inclusive Design Specialist Responsibilities include:

coaching designers on how to annotate design deliverables with accessibility notes, analyze colour contrasts and layouts, and facilitate co-design sessions


planning events related to accessibility including booking boardrooms, writing and sending meeting invitations, confirming list of attendees, booking flights, etc.


planning, coordinating and/or delivering training related to accessibility including evaluating training needs, sourcing vendors, creating learning outcomes and lesson plans, and evaluating training effectiveness


supporting and/or executing accessibility research by supporting the research team members, writing research scripts, conducting research sessions, creating research briefs and benchmarking product accessibility


researching and analyzing trends and data to create briefing decks and reports

The Inclusive Design Specialist must be familiar with:

inclusive design methods used throughout the product design process
designing, running and analyzing usability tests and user interviews
the latest version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
software and hardware used by people with disabilities (assistive technology including screen readers, magnification tools, and alternative input systems)
different types of disabilities and the barriers people with disabilities might face
