Position Information
TxDOT is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Digital Accessibility Specialist with our Information Technology division to ensure that all digital content, platforms, and services are fully accessible to individuals with disabilities. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Section 508, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The specialist will be responsible for creating and reviewing Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs), conducting accessibility evaluations of digital products and services, and performing contract reviews to determine when the following documentation is required:
·Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs)
·Policy-Driven Adoption for Accessibility (PDAA) assessments
·Voluntary Accessibility Document Submission and Issue Resolution (VADSIR) submissions
This position plays a key role in supporting inclusive procurement practices and ensuring that vendors and internal teams meet accessibility standards throughout the lifecycle of digital content and technology solutions.
Essential Duties:
Key Responsibilities:
·Accessibility Audits & Testing
o Conduct manual and automated accessibility audits of websites, applications, and digital documents.
o Evaluate conformance with WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, and ADA Title II requirements.
o Use tools such as SiteImprove, WAVE, NVDA, VoiceOver, and others for testing.
·Documentation & Reporting
o Create and maintain VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates) and Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs).
o Document findings and remediation recommendations in alignment with VADSIR (Voluntary Accessibility Document Submission and Issue Resolution) processes.
o Support procurement and vendor accessibility documentation reviews.
·Remediation & Support
o Remediate digital documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to meet accessibility standards.
o Collaborate with content creators, developers, and designers to implement accessibility best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
Other Conditions:
* Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school.
* Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
• IAAP CPACC or WAS certification.
• Experience with accessibility in mobile apps and multimedia.
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks related to accessibility.
• Experience working with government or educational institutions.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
