User Interface Accessibility Testing Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented User Interface Accessibility Testing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our web applications and digital products meet accessibility standards and provide an inclusive user experience for all individuals, including those with disabilities.

Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough accessibility testing of web applications, mobile applications, and other digital interfaces using various assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnifiers).
Identify and document accessibility barriers and usability issues based on WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 AA and other relevant standards.
Collaborate closely with designers, developers, and product managers to understand accessibility requirements and provide actionable recommendations for remediation.
Perform manual and automated accessibility testing, utilizing tools such as Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, and screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver).
Develop and maintain accessibility test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
Educate and advocate for accessibility best practices within the organization.
Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards, guidelines, and assistive technologies.
Participate in code reviews to ensure accessibility is considered during the development process.
Provide training and guidance to other team members on accessibility testing principles and techniques.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven experience in accessibility testing of web and mobile applications.
In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines and accessibility principles.
Proficiency with assistive technologies (screen readers, keyboard navigation, etc.).
Experience with accessibility testing tools (Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, etc.).
Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and how they impact accessibility.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
Experience with user research or usability testing is a plus.
