About this role

The Senior Coordinator, Community Support & Accessibility will work within the RightsCon team to support the coordination and execution of the RightsCon Summit Series (rightscon.org). Reporting to the Community Experience Manager, the Senior Coordinator, Community Support & Accessibility will contribute to the successful implementation and management of RightsCon community support initiatives aimed at increasing the accessibility and inclusion of the summit, including visa support and funding for travel and connectivity. In this role, the Senior Coordinator, Community Support & Accessibility will also contribute to communications with participants and collaborate with other Access Now teams as necessary for the distribution of funding.



What you will do

Community and participant support

Manage, in coordination with the Community Experience Manager, the implementation of the Community Support Fund process, including the set up and management of the application form using OpenWater software.
Support with reviewing and updating the community support model to better support community needs, including contributing to the budget exercise and reviewing resource allocation around community support.
Contribute to the review of community support applications and tracking of applicant information.
Support the Community Experience Manager with the communications to community fund recipients from notifications on application status to processing issues.
Coordinate with Access Now’s finance team on funding distribution, troubleshooting and payment updates.
Contribute to the development and execution of an outreach strategy for the host region.
Contribute to the development and execution of the community management strategy, including stakeholder engagement.
Visa support

Manage, in coordination with the Community Experience Manager, the implementation of our visa support process, and conduct research on the visa system and requirements of host location.
Support the Community Experience Manager, in mapping key stakeholders to engage with for the visa support process.
Manage, in coordination with the Local Partner Organization and Local Outreach Coordinator communications with the government of the host country, embassies, and other key stakeholders to advocate for participants to secure visas, especially those who belong to marginalized communities and face significant barriers to international travel.
In coordination with the Community Experience Manager, support RightsCon participants as they go through visa applications, including providing guidance with documentation queries and other clarifications, as needed.
Implement and execute our process for providing direct support to participants before and during travel, including clear communications on what to expect, drafting supporting documentation, and ways to seek help in case of emergencies.
Coordinate and consult with participants directly impacted by visa and travel-related challenges during previous RightsCon editions to ensure their smooth arrival and participation in the next iteration of RightsCon.
Lead cross-arm coordination with regional, advocacy, grants, and operations teams to ensure partners from marginalized communities are supported in planning their travel to RightsCon.
Develop and execute an on-site community resources and support strategy, including mental health support, immigration support, and more.
Manage, in coordination with the RightsCon Director, Community Experience Manager, and members of SecOps and Legal, the development of a crisis mitigation plan for participants traveling for RightsCon.
Manage, in coordination with the Event Support Contractor, the issuing of visa invitation letters to support RightsCon participants in visa applications.
Accessibility

In coordination with the Community Experience Manager and the Operations and Partnerships Manager, develop and execute an accessibility strategy to enhance venue and platform accessibility as well as overall accessibility of the summit.
Advise external production partner and venue partner in conducting an accessibility audit of the venue, and implementing measures to enhance accessibility for participants.
Advise platform partner in conducting an accessibility audit of the summit platform, and implementing measures to enhance accessibility for participants.
Advise the Creative & Communications Manager
in conducting an accessibility audit of the website, social media channels, and other online presences, and implementing measures to enhance accessibility for participants.
Act as point of contact and primary communicator for copy, inquiries, and guidance related to accessibility, including blogs, reports, and FAQs.
Track access requests from participants, and manage coordination with participants, and other partners as necessary, around their access requests.


Skills, education, and mindset you will bring

A university/college degree (or equivalent practical experience) related to human rights, policy, business development, journalism, technology policy, or another relevant field.
Three to five years of experience in event management, project coordinator, or similar role.
Three to five years of relevant experience working in community management, including developing processes to support community members in maximizing their engagement.
Demonstrable knowledge of relevant international human rights and technology policy issues.
Strong proficiency working with spreadsheets to assist with the building out, development, and management of databases.
Be able to manage competing and urgent tasks, as well as long-term and sustained projects, taking them all to completion, and be able to report on their progress to relevant stakeholders.
Have a deep respect for cultural, linguistic, identity, and regional differences and diversity.
Be a highly enthusiastic team player, with experience working on complex projects involving many people and competing timelines.
Excellent spoken, expository, and persuasive writing and editing skills, with a knowledge of writing for different audiences.
Ability to travel internationally and domestically.
Prior experience supporting participants with varied accessibility needs is preferred, including identifying and implementing ways to reduce barriers to access in in-person and online spaces.
Prior experience in advocacy, activism or community organizing is preferred.


The Details



Location

This fixed-term contract role - expected to run through December of 2026, with preference for our current office locations. The successful candidate must possess the right to work in the location in which they will be based. At this time most Access Now Team Members are working through hybrid office arrangements, combining remote at-home work with intermittent use of offices and/or co-working spaces.

$3,987.75 USD gross monthly (Costa Rica)
€6,075.00 EUR gross monthly (Germany)

$6,027.00 USD gross monthly (United States)
