The starting salary for this role is £40,227 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

So, a little bit about us! The team are based in Web and Digital Services and our work is crucial in supporting and developing the Surrey County Council and partnership websites.

As a team we are currently managing a digital accessibility programme which will ensure that all Surrey County Council websites and digital assets adhere to accessibility regulations, in line with UK law.

So how will this role help we hear you ask? Great question. The Digital Accessibility Auditor will form a vital part of the project team that has been put together to achieve this objective. Working with our project team and in partnership with colleagues in IT, you’ll support in:

Developing and managing Surrey County Council’s Accessibility Audit Framework
Executing the council’s audit plan through prioritised audits based on business-critical deployments and residual risk.
Feeding back and explaining audit findings to service managers.
Identifying and highlighting the impact of remedial actions in terms of costs, timescales, and risks.
Providing advice to Senior Managers in response to internal/external Equality Act challenges relating to accessibility.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

Experience of developing and managing an accessibility audit framework.
Understanding relevant legislation and how it needs to be applied into the business.
Skills in consulting with internal business leads and external suppliers, gaining trust and buy-in from stakeholders at all levels, to bring about required business change.
Technical skills around defining how Inclusion/Accessibility standards within ICT solutions can deliver Inclusive/Accessible Technology
A thorough and detailed understanding of the following acts and standards, their importance and impact to business objectives and end user experience:
WCAG 2.1 AA standards for digital accessibility and its impact to affected peoples use of websites and digital resources
Public Sector Accessibility (Web and Mobile) Regulations 2018
Equality Act 2010
WebAIM Accessibility Best Practice
