Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and demonstrate the ability to equally be prominent in government-wide and DoD strategic plans. In addition, contractor support will have knowledge of and assist with:

DoD-wide strategic and operational planning for digital accessibility
Developing policy, guidance and best practices for digital accessibility, including Section 508 and use of AT
Developing strategies for improving management, use, and interoperability of AT within the DoD IT environment
Developing training and outreach programs, including the development of training materials and attending disability awareness events
Reviewing 508 related language within IT acquisitions

The Candidate shall work independently in support of projects and groups. The contractor shall monitor and provide technical support to other engineering teams.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires the Department of Defense (DoD) to ensure that persons with disabilities (both employees and members of the public) have comparable access to and use of electronic information technology. Contractor support, for DoD Senior Agency Officials via DoD CIO Statutory Implementation Directorate, is seeking a subject matter expert skilled in Section 508 and Assistive Technologies (AT). Candidate will have knowledge and skill in applying Section 508 law and policy, accessibility standards, procurement practices, systems development lifecycle processes, 508 testing and validation, awareness and training practices, and complaints management. The Section 508 and Accessibility Subject Matter Expert will provide an in-depth knowledge of AT and accommodations for persons with disabilities; such as being blind, low vision, mobility impaired or hearing impaired via systems (e.g. JAWS, Zoomtext, Dragon Naturally Speaking, braille displays, Video phones, captioning/relay services), to include their function and interoperability requirements.

Experience advising, briefing, and/or collaborating with Senior Officials and Senior Officers within the DoD CIO, CMO, OUSD(P), OUSD(A&S), OUSD(R&E), OUSD(I), Military Departments, Joint Staff, and/or Combatant Commands.
Be able to participate and lead drafting, staffing, and coordinating policy documents. Experience coordinating CATMS correspondence, action memos, staffing packages, and/or comment matrixes for senior leadership approval and signatures.


Required Skills:

U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must have Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance (desired but not required).
Senior Level Candidate must have Master’s Degree with 12 years of experience in related field; Mid-Level Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience in related field.


Desired Skills:

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Teams, and Skype.
