We are seeking a contract Accessibility Lead with strong project management capabilities to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the organization’s accessibility framework for websites and applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working within large organizations, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, and driving initiatives that promote inclusive digital experiences. This role is hybrid in NYC.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive accessibility framework aligned with industry standards (e.g., WCAG, ADA, Section 508).
Lead cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility best practices into website and application development processes.
Manage accessibility projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring timely and within-budget execution.
Conduct accessibility audits, assessments, and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with design, development, and content teams to ensure accessibility compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide guidance, training, and support to teams on accessibility standards and best practices.
Monitor and report on accessibility compliance metrics and progress.
Stay current with evolving accessibility regulations, standards, and emerging technologies.
Engage with external vendors or consultants as needed to support accessibility initiatives.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to transform the organization’s Accessibility readiness, guiding from initial initiation to proactively integrating accessibility considerations early in the delivery lifecycle ('shift-left' approach).
Experience in the end to end process of creating a website (CMS tools like Adobe, Tag Management tool understanding, Website Compliance requirements such as Privacy Notice, Terms of Use, creating secure sites, and registering domains) is nice to have.
