Middleweight Digital Designer

Ocado.com

Hatfield,UK

This job is expired.

We’re Ocado Retail. We’re the people powering Ocado.com, the UK’s fastest-growing grocer, and Ocado Zoom, our almost-as-fast-growing, same-day grocery service. As the world’s biggest and best online-only grocer, we work tirelessly to bring more of what matters to our customers: unbeatable range, fair value and effortless convenience.

We’re an exceptional and mighty bunch of colleagues who are inspired by our three awesome values: Always be curious, Bring your best self and Challenge what's possible. We’re growing fast, and we’re looking for like-minded people to join us for the next step of this.

THIS ROLE IN A NUTSHELL:

We are on the hunt for multiskilled digital designers of all levels (junior, mid, senior) who are passionate about creating beautiful customer communications for the web, social media and email. Being a foodie would be a big help too!
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-moving, growing business in a fun and dynamic team that is always ready to go the extra mile.
Reporting to our Digital Design & Motion Lead, you will join a team of creative designers within our Hertfordshire-based in-house studio that also includes designers, developers, writers, photographers, art directors and more.

THIS IS THE BIT WHERE WE DESCRIBE YOU:

You are a brilliant creative problem solver, highly skilled at turning briefs into delicious, mouth-watering creations to inspire and help our customers with their grocery shopping decisions. You’re capable of breathing life into our current style yet passionate about pushing the boundaries and helping us navigate into new creative territories.
As a senior, you’re an ambassador for our brand and digital standards, including optimisation and accessibility. You will have a keen eye for spotting contrast or file size issues that could result in a poor user experience and you are not afraid to speak up when something is not right. Amongst your peers you will be the ‘go-to' person when it comes to digital knowledge and the more junior members will look up to you for guidance and inspiration
You are the type of person who says yes to change, loves being in a team, gets things done and is the centre of change; You will set the digital standards bar.

WHAT DOES THE DAY-TO-DAY FEEL LIKE?
Each day is different at Ocado as we are a young company with tons of ambition to change the world of online shopping. We don’t have physical stores, so we have to grab people's attention in the digital world. This means that one day you could be meeting with the business to discuss a Halloween campaign and the next creating a social proposition to promote our electric vans.

Briefs are provided by project owners from all areas of the business and it’s your job to interpret, build upon and challenge these before the work begins in kickoffs. Once you are in agreement about milestones and direction it’s time to bring the concept to life along with the rest of your team (usually an art director, writer and photographer). We’re an in-house team, with a whole organisation relying on us to get things done, so we need you to be professional, self-motivated and dependable too, achieving tight deadlines but brave enough to push back and flag in the initial stages with reasonable turnaround times.
