The Walmart International Tech UX (ITUX) team is looking for a Senior Accessibility Lead to lead the team of accessibility specialists and work on digital projects across multiple platforms and websites for consumer, and associate-facing software. The Senior Accessibility Lead will develop and implement a strategic plan for prioritizing accessibility efforts by the accessibility team and put gather business requirements that the accessibility team can use to organize accessibility feedback and accommodation recommendations for features Walmart builds and manages on digital platforms.

The Senior Accessibility Lead will lead the accessibility team which establishes and drives the overall accessibility strategy and execution of ITUX work streams. This position will work collaboratively with all other cross-functional UX managers, product managers, content strategists, designers, and engineering leads on accessibility throughout the entire agile lifecycle of a project.

Major Responsibilities

Lead the ITUX accessibility team utilizing an inclusive design approach to prepare, organize, and use business priorities to strategically prioritize accessibility contributions to ITUX work streams.

Work collaboratively with design/research, engineering, product leads, QA, operations, and many other cross-functional teams to maintain accessible practice and support the implementation of accessibility by providing guidance and expertise to various teams as needed.

Work closely with design and engineering teams to improve systems-level support for Accessibility and drive engineering investments to enable step-change improvements in our ability to build and scale accessible products

Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks

Manage cross-functional product accessibility development programs in a matrix organization covering a range of teams and tools

Gather business requirements and partner with product owners and technical leads to understand limitations and scope to inform prioritization and help the accessibility team establish LOE.

Develop a process to address discovered accessibility gaps in published content

Communicate accessibility progress and project statuses to key interested parties and teams around the organization

Facilitate meetings, workshops, and forums to drive the goals of our accessibility practice, ensuring that individual members of design/UX, product and engineering are knowledgeable and empowered to create and deliver products that meet internal accessibility standards

Complete spot checks of our products post-launch to ensure our product partners follow provided guidance to achieve maintain compliant with the standards of WCAG 2.1 AA across all products and platforms both domestically and globally. Obtain commitments to address concerns discovered from these checks

Work independently, but connect with, and share progress, insights, and aspirations with Design and UX leadership to create alignment with other strategic business priorities.

Focus on customer needs and continuously improve user experience to increase customer comprehension, product

Qualifications

The right candidate will bring a depth of knowledge and expertise around WCAG accessibility standards for digital consumer-facing products

Experience partnering with and empowering product, design, and engineering teams cross-functionally to create accessible products

A history of selecting and championing third-party tools and vendors for everyday use

Skilled at getting things done using a combination of creativity, communication, and people skills.

Can manage a team of experts to drive accessibility and inclusion for our digital products and services

You are self-motivated, independent, organized, and proactive; highly responsive, flexible, and adaptable

You possess excellent time & project management skills and ability to adapt to the ever-changing priorities of the eCommerce business.

Experience partnering with cross-functional teams in launching new products and improvements to existing features.

Experience using, or testing web and app products with assistive technology to convey complex information to teams around assistive technology compatibility and assistive technology interactions in plain language.

You can readily give and receive constructive feedback.

Work quickly and efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

You have experience as a subject matter expert in accessibility and inclusive design

Previous work or lived experience, focused education, or advanced certifications in accessibility, and inclusive design topics

Have advanced knowledge of the WCAG, WAI, ARIA, ATAG, and other accessibility guidelines or standards

A constant drive to stay up to date with the latest industry news and developments.
