The Role:

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a UX Accessibility Intern to join our User Experience (UX) team! The team is comprised of many highly talented, enthusiastic individuals who ensure the services and offerings from Kobo are available to both internal and external customers.



Reporting to the Accessibility Lead, the UX Accessibility Intern will gain real-world professional experience through hands-on participation in core design activities like research, (problem) discovery, collaborative solution ideation, execution, and delivery of design assets. The UX Accessibility Intern will also learn how to work with professional design tools and assistive technology in the execution of their design tasks. The UX Accessibility Intern will also have the opportunity to learn about accessibility standards, accessible user research, and performing accessibility assessments.

The Skillset:

Required:

Understanding of basic design principles and some experience in solving real-life problems

Familiarity with (any) digitals tool to create content and/or design assets

Ability to think critically and be receptive to learning through constructive critique

A curious mind and a passion for reading



Nice to Haves:

Familiarity with digital design software like Figma

Experience working with or ideally leading a group of co-contributors

Knowledge of assistive technology or digital accessibility standards
