A&F IT is a unit under the Executive Office for Administration & Finance (A&F) and is overseen by the A&F IT Secretariat Chief Information Officer (A&F SCIO). A&F IT is comprised of more than 200 employees working on IT systems and applications for 15 various A&F agencies. A&F IT oversees and provides all the IT application support for these agencies to ensure their IT operations are running effectively and efficiently.
A&F IT is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accessibility Lead to help strategize and implement a plan to ensure that all IT services across all Executive Office for Administration & Finance agencies' applications and communication platforms are accessible and for individuals using assistive technology, and make public interaction with the agencies more simple, efficient, and effective.
The Accessibility Lead will work with the Executive team and ETOSS Chief Accessibility Officer to develop and execute organizational accessibility policies and strategies. Responsibilities include milestone setting, progress tracking, advising senior leadership on accessibility enhancements, integrating accessibility into software development and procurement processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with Executive team and EOTSS Chief Accessibility Officer to develop organizational accessibility policies, strategies, and/or guidance.
Strategize, build, and implement an accessibility roadmap for all A&F agencies that will make all existing internal and external facing digital services more accessible and equitable.
Define milestones, plan, and track progress against the milestones to report to senior management.
Collaborate and work with accessibility officers across other agencies to understand IT accessibility strategies, build strong relationships with accessibility stakeholders involved in overall strategy as well as stakeholders that have a direct influence on the implementations including agency CIOS, development teams, content creators, procurement teams and legal teams to help advance accessibility plans.
Advising organizational management on opportunities to enhance areas of accessibility.
Work with senior management and IT leaders to incorporate accessibility into every stage of the software development, procurement and purchasing processes.
Assess gaps and design and implement plans to close these including training and testing support.
Ensure that accessibility requirements are included in governance decisions/processes.
4-5 years’ experience in a accessibility role.
Deep commitment to resolve accessibility issues with IT services.
Experience identifying and/or applying applicable leading organizational accessibility practices based on research or other approaches.
Knowledge and understanding of state and national accessibility laws and standards for digital resources including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) requirements, WAI-ARIA and Section 508 standards.
Exposure to designing and user interface creation with inclusive design using modern technologies and constituent research data.
Understanding of the digital accessibility platforms for testing
Experience influencing leadership and stakeholders about the importance of IT accessibility.
Ability to lead teams, develop excellent stakeholder relationships and help parties reach consensus.
Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; to devise solutions to complex problems; and to prepare concise reports.
Excellent communication skills and ability to create executive level presentations for small or large audiences.
As part of the Future of Work initiative, our agency adopted a hybrid work model. Hybrid work is a mix of in-office work and telework. This position will work remotely some days and in-person on other days.
