Team Overview: As part of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) team within the People and Culture Group, the Digital Accessibility Advisor will play a pivotal role in ensuring EDC’s digital platforms are accessible to all users. This position focuses evaluating digital assets for compliance with accessibility standards, promoting inclusive design principles, and providing technical expertise to project teams to enhance accessibility knowledge across the organization. The Advisor will collaborate across departments including marketing, technology, and human resources, helping to guide inclusive practices and influence digital transformation efforts.
What You Will Be Doing: As the Digital Accessibility Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that EDC’s digital platforms are inclusive and accessible to all users, adhering to international standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Strategic Leadership: Shape and support the development of a comprehensive digital accessibility strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, customer experience goals, and government mandates.
* Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and evolution of accessibility policies and guidelines that support inclusive design and digital adoption across all platforms.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across business units to embed accessibility considerations into digital planning, procurement, and product development processes.
* Advisory and Enablement: Act as a trusted advisor to teams, offering guidance, resources, and thought leadership to support accessible design and development practices.
* Capability Building: Mentor and coach teams to build internal capacity for accessibility, fostering awareness and understanding across technical and non-technical audiences.
* Governance and Evaluation: Support the evaluation of third-party tools and platforms for accessibility compliance, and contribute to vendor engagement strategies to ensure inclusive outcomes.
* Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends and best practices, and contribute to the evolution of accessibility standards, testing methodologies, and organizational learning.
What We Are Looking For:
* 5–7 years of experience in digital accessibility, ideally in a strategic or advisory capacity.
* Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
* Strong understanding of digital accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2, ARIA, Semantic HTML), inclusive design principles, and the intersection of technology and disability.
* Proven ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including technical teams, designers, and business leaders.
* Skilled at translating complex accessibility concepts into actionable strategies and policies.
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and driving change in a matrixed environment.
* Deep understanding of front-end technologies and their accessibility constraints for mobile and responsive web applications.
* Experience planning, building, and delivering accessible solutions across web and mobile.
