The Accessibility Coordinator ensures student access by managing the testing center and by providing administration, training, and support. This position also provides expertise in the areas of data management, reporting, design, and accessibility as it relates to assistive technology in the Academic Support Center.

POSITION FUNCTIONS

Academic & Student Success: Oversees the Academic Support Center (ASC) in the Director’s absence; assists in maintaining and supervising all Accessibility Services; Oversees and manages the operations of the testing center with necessary accommodations. Schedules and proctors exams while maintaining security and confidentiality of testing materials.
Student Support: Manages, supervises, and administers all testing for students with disabilities and for those rescheduling due to Concordia sponsored events.
Data & Technology Management: Manages the maintenance of, and changes to ASC database systems and records. Oversees design, maintenance, and production of a variety of queries, reports, statistical data, and student records.
Accessibility Design and Development: Collaborates with web master, content creators, and digital operations to ensure that digital materials and department-specific information are accessible to all users. Assist in the creation of accessible documents, videos, and multimedia content as applicable.
Assistive Technology Expertise: Must stay current with developments in assistive technology and accessibility tools. Provides expertise in selecting and implementing assistive technology solutions that enhance the learning experience for students with disabilities. Keeps abreast of federal and state laws related to accessibility and ensures compliance.
All other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Ability to articulate and model the Concordia University Texas mission, vision, and values.
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required.
Master’s degree preferred.

Experience in higher education preferred.
Experience with Special education, 504, MTSS, and/or Accessibility services preferred.

Strong organizational and customer service skills, ability to independently set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress, and track results.
Ability to lead professional development/training of faculty and staff.
Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team while exercising sound discretion and judgment in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations specifically related to disabilities and accessibility and willingness to stay abreast of new technologies in the area of accessibility.

Experience using MS Office, assistive and adaptive software programs, hardware and other technology utilized by students with visual, hearing and print disabilities ( e.g., ReadSpeaker TextAid, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Livescribe pens, etc.)
Experience with Banner, Maxient, Navigate and Astra Scheduler preferred.

Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and with diverse populations, representing Concordia in a professional and positive manner.
Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Knowledge of and ability to design written and web materials in accessible formats.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sitting or standing at a computer 5-7 hours per day when in the office
Lifting up to 30 pounds
Able to work effectively in a strong service-oriented environment.
