What you'll be doing...

We are pleased to announce that we are hiring a Sr Mgr – Accessibility to be responsible for implementing Accessibility testing best practices for Automation & Manual testing efforts, as well as lead a Team of Accessibility Champions that focus on ensuring WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines are met and exceeded.

This role will help to redesign our future and the way we address accessibility within the Verizon. Your focus will be driving accessibility with highly visible work that will directly impact the future of Verizon on behalf of our customers and employees with disabilities. As a transformational leader you will be responsible for enabling our consistent and repeatable Accessibility testing practices as they relate to our playbook of processes for transformational outcomes. With a strong approach and the ability to persuade, you will be seen as a thought leader by those you interact with.

Additionally you will transform voice-of-the-communities data into insights and make recommendations to improve and transform our accessibility practices that bring us "Beyond Compliance". With a blend of business process management, change management, and strategy and operational experience, you will be a leader with a seat at the table who will influence and drive change for our business practices and people with disabilities.

Responsibilities:

Managing a team of 3-6 team members who each drive their own portfolio of work. Responsible for on-boarding, coaching, support and evaluation of team members. Leading cultural change by modeling transparency, integrity, experimentation, empowerment and focusing on driving value for our clients.

Assuming a Leadership role in identifying, prioritizing, developing, modifying, and advocating for people with disabilities by implementing appropriate procedures, reporting, and practices consistent with state and federal laws by liaising with appropriate legal and compliance partners.

Evaluating opportunities for improvement using qualitative and quantitative techniques to drive process improvement with thorough analysis and understanding of key drivers, assumptions, and scenarios. Keep the team, compliance leads, and legal partners informed of current accessibility trends and best practices that assist with evolving our Accessibility Testing Practices.

Preparing and delivering presentations, training programs, written materials, and professional development activities related to accessibility topics with the intention of reducing systemic barriers, and promoting disability awareness, inclusive practices, and guidance for making documents, presentations, pdfs, and products and services accessible.

Collaborating with cross-functional leaders as a key stakeholder in the evaluation of accessibility impacts on Verizon initiatives, evaluate assignment needs, and partner with GTS on Defect Lifecycle Remediation.

Collaborating with the Corporate Social Responsibility, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion teams to align strategic initiatives with our Accessibility testing practices.

Providing internal consulting to partner groups as needed.

Training users on the use of accessibility automation and manual testing.

Coaching team members on how to define and execute automated scans and complete manual assessments on web pages to identify and log accessibility issues, and suggest and prioritize fixes. Oversee all VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) responses.

Optimizing, automating, and governing the use of accessibility tools.

Ensuring the fluid management of integration efforts, working in a matrix environment with high levels of ambiguity. Create and foster strong relationships with both business and technical partners.

What we are looking for:

Experienced Accessibility Champion who is dedicated and passionate about Accessibility and Assistive Technology. An individual who understands compliance requirements, yet strives to go “beyond compliance” and work towards the best experiences possible for everyone!

You'll need to have:

Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience

Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Relevant accessibility work experience.

Technical Writing hands-on experience. (User Guides, Manuals, Templates).

JAWS, NVDA, Keyboard Only hands-on experience.

Accessibility Automation and Manual Testing hands-on experience.

Web Accessibility (WCAG) and Physical Accessibility (ADA) experience.

Experience creating and presenting presentations to all levels of an organization.

Ability to create Mock-ups and provide Accessible Design Annotation experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

Accessibility certification.

Significant experience in developing, implementing and tracking new processes and methods.

Experience influencing key stakeholders through using expertise and data.

Experience in Software Development/Engineering practices, including Agile (and writing user stories), DevOps and Cloud tools and methodologies.

Intermediate- advanced skill level using project management tools, office productivity, and data analytics tools. Advanced Proficiency in Google Suite and/or MS PowerPoint and Excel.

Significant experience in developing, implementing and tracking new processes and methods.

Strong consulting skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.

Experience influencing key stakeholders through using expertise and data.

Strong consulting skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong business acumen.
