The Wells Fargo Digital Design Innovation team creates Commercial Banking (CB) and Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) experiences that allow our customers to manage their company's relationship with Wells Fargo confidently and securely and support their business operations. The Digital Design Innovation's Accessible User Experience (AUX) team is an inclusive group of accessibility Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and advocates for disabled people with a mission to ensure all individuals can access and benefit from Wells Fargo's Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking products and services. The Senior Accessible UX Specialist will apply their understanding of end-to-end customer needs through consultation and instruction to help peers and partners design and develop accessible and inclusive solutions that serve our customers throughout their digital journey. This role requires deep knowledge of the WCAG Standards for digital applications and demonstrable expertise in using both automated and manual accessibility testing tools and techniques for both web and mobile applications. A successful candidate will have experience and perspective to influence and prioritize accessibility needs to ensure compliance and support our design foundations to improve digital experiences for all users. A successful candidate will also be passionate about developing and refining processes to achieve accessible digital solutions. The role also requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement.

Key responsibilities include:

Ensure that solutions for accessibility contribute to a positive user experience for all users, including evaluation of tools that support accessibility validation
Act as a subject matter expert on digital accessibility, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

Act as an internal consultant within Business/Product, Design, and Technology groups to ensure compliance with digital accessibility guidelines, standards, and regulations
Promote accessibility within the organization - be an advocate for considering accessibility as a vital part of the customer experience
Perform tasks to ensure delivery of accessible design and markup, such as:

Visually conduct accessibility reviews of design assets provided by product and content designers
Contribute critical accessibility instruction to design deliverables and user stories, including guidance for use of ARIA and HTML markup

Perform spot testing or heuristic reviews of coded deliverables, as needed
Educate and inform project teams of end-to-end processes

Contribute to accessibility training of others:

Lead and present training sessions to internal and external audiences
Develop and facilitate accessibility training and presentations

Plan and perform occasional web accessibility testing with assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and ZoomText, with the understanding of their interactions with multiple browsers and platform combinations. Note: A separate Accessibility QA team performs the majority of accessibility testing and auditing.

In this role, you will:

Work as an advisor to experienced leadership to develop or influence a team to understand how people use and access Wells Fargo technology
Review and analyze moderately complex business, operational, or technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
Independently resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet functional area, project, or process deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of the Accessible User Experience policies, procedures and/or compliance requirements
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and mid-level managers to resolve Accessible User Experience issues and achieve goals; may lead projects, teams or serve as a mentor for lower level staff

Required Qualifications, US:

4+ years of Graphic or Website Design experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.0/2.1

Expert hands-on experience on using at least one assistive technology, like JAWS, NVDA, Mac VoiceOver, iOS VoiceOver, Android Talkback, High Contrast Mode & magnification settings, keyboard-only, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking to evaluate accessibility compliance of digital platforms and content
Experience consulting on accessible design and/or code and/or digital content (more than just having had worked on one project)
Ability to interpret wireframes and provide feedback from an accessibility perspective regarding interactions, design and content choices, and user flow
Ability to closely collaborate with design, content, technology, and business teams to solve for complex issues, negotiating for the most accessible design given existing constraints
AUX consultation experience across all phases of product development: planning, integration, implementation, scalability, and problem definition

Proven ability to identify creative approaches to accessibility challenges and problems
Experience in Agile, Waterfall, JIRA, and Confluence
Experience working with a design system and corresponding code library
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Financial services industry experience

Ability to operate effectively in a geographically dispersed organization
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques

International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) Certified

Job Expectations:

This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship
This position is a hybrid work model and will not be a telecommute position, must be willing to work out of San Francisco, CA, Houston, TX, Minneapolis, MN or Charlotte, NC approximately 3 days a week
10% travel may be involved

Pay Range
$73,100.00 - $129,900.00 Annual
