As our Senior Digital Accessibility Consultant, you are a key contributor to Perkins Access accessibility consulting engagements delivering services related to digital strategies, usability, web standards and accessibility compliance directly to customers.


You will work with Perkins Access clients as a senior contributor to lead customer engagements and deliver professional services to a variety of organizations and help to develop the strategic growth and impact of this line of business. This includes delivering consulting across client organizations to guide strategic planning, inclusive design, training, as well as expert assessments of digital properties and user testing to ensure accessible digital experiences for people with disabilities. You have excellent technical expertise and knowledge of current accessibility standards, and know how to communicate clearly and effectively with clients. A strong candidate for this role is a proactive, life-long learner who has a proven track record of delivering exceptional digital accessibility services to clients.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:

Assist clients with developing strategies, roadmaps, policies, procedures to advance and scale their enterprise-level accessibility programs.
Serving as a trusted advisor to clients, successfully managing customer engagement and communications during service delivery and with satisfactory quality of deliverables.
Provide technical solutions and remediation guidance to clients to help remove accessibility barriers from digital experiences.
Review design systems, style guides, wireframes and early digital prototypes to identify potential accessibility barriers while advising clients on inclusive design best practices.
Conduct manual accessibility audits of digital properties, inspect web code or native apps and identify accessibility issues using a variety of assistive technologies
Conduct user testing, typically of designated use cases, with people with disabilities
Write reports to deliver expert accessibility insights and testing results to clients.
Create and present training materials to educate clients on inclusive design, accessibility standards and best practices.
Manage all projects including estimating, planning, scheduling and identifying resources needed while ensuring that projects are executed according to scope of work and delivered on time and within budget.
Mentoring and supporting junior staff.
Contributes to Perkins-wide learning initiatives around accessibility and best practices.
Technical Competencies

Proven track record of directly advising clients about inclusive design and digital accessibility standards and best practices.
Expert knowledge of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, The Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508, evolving accessibility standards and VPAT.
Skilled with HTML, CSS, and WAI-ARIA (JavaScript a plus).
Adept at conducting manual accessibility testing of websites, mobile apps and digital products using assistive technologies such as screen readers (e.g. JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and magnification software.
Experience with automated accessibility testing tools and how to interpret/prioritize results.
Proven ability to develop and offer technical solutions, training and guidance to web developers, designers, and software engineers.
Experience with mobile app development and mobile accessibility testing.
Knowledge of standards that apply to accessible multimedia.
Ability to create accessible electronic documents (MS Office, GSuite, PDF).
Prior experience with project management platforms (such as Asana and Basecamp), collaboration platforms (Slack) and bug-tracking systems (Jira).
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as computer science, digital design, or user experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital accessibility or a combination of 5 years of experience in digital accessibility, software development, digital design or user experience.
Certification/Credentials a plus:

IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certification
