The Instructional Accessibility Manager leads the Instructional Accessibility Group within the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design (CTLD). They act as a primary instructional accessibility resource for all instructors at MSU Denver, plan and execute instructor development around accessibility and work with university partners on policies and procedures relating to instructional accessibility. This position supervises 1-2 Instructional Accessibility Specialists as well as up to two student instructional accessibility positions. Both in-person and remote work are part of this position.

Duties/Responsibilities
50% Instructional Accessibility

Serves as an auditing, training, and consulting resource to all instructional personnel regarding instructional accessibility.
Work with instructors, departments and other university partners to review the accessibility of existing courses and suggest appropriate revisions.
Design and deliver faculty development workshops and provide ad hoc consulting to faculty regarding implementation of accessibility solutions.
Support faculty in the implementation of Universal Design for Learning framework by researching, designing, and delivering resources and trainings.
Support faculty in ensuring ADA compliance and culturally competent teaching by researching, designing, and delivering resources and trainings.
Facilitates implementation of accessible technologies and software applications in support of Universal Design for Learning and ADA compliance.


30% Management, Administration and Leadership

Directs the operations of the Instructional Accessibility Group. This includes managing tasks, monitoring timelines, developing communications, managing unforeseen issues, and ensuring outcomes.
Leads and initiates instructional accessibility projects in collaboration and consultation with leadership and key stakeholders.
Tracks, anticipates and recommends budget and spending for the Instructional Accessibility Group.
Coordinates and communicates regularly with the Instructional Design Group and the Associate Director of Teaching & Learning.
Work with campus partners to draft policies and procedures related to instructional accessibility.
Monitor and report effectiveness of accessibility procedures to authoritative bodies, along with recommendations for improvements and solutions.


20% Research, Outreach and Other Duties

Maintains professional expertise in instructional accessibility by researching and sharing new professional knowledge.
Stay up to date about emerging assistive, information, instructional technologies and accessibility solutions.
Supports events, conferences and workshops sponsored by the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design.
Identifies and pursues grant opportunities to fund innovative initiatives.
Embed inclusive excellence within all practices and philosophies.
Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
2. Experience with implementing technical and procedural accessibility mitigation solutions
3. Experience in instructional design and Universal Design for Learning principles
4. Experience with assistive technologies used in higher education
5. Knowledge of disability law (as applies to higher education) and information technology accessibility standards
6. Knowledge of current and emerging electronic and information technology accessibility issues.
7. Experience working with subject matter experts and other stakeholders in developing instructional materials

Preferred Qualifications
A. Certificate and/or documented training in Assistive Technology
B. Master’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited institution
C. Experience communicating technical concepts
D. Experience with identifying roadblocks and removing them, working in a team
E. Experience working on multiple concurrent projects
F. Experience with contemporary classroom technologies
G. Experience creating computer-mediated training
H. Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro
I. Applied knowledge of fair use and TEACH Act guidelines
