Costco’s IT Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university to participate in a 12-week paid internship program during the summer of 2021. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Technology Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided.

ROLE

Works with stakeholders to identify solutions that support their business requirements.
Works independently and within a team environment.
Pays attention to detail, self-motivated with the ability to follow instructions and complete assignments on time.
Learns and applies new concepts, processes and tools.
Takes initiative to solve problems and multi-tasks by prioritizing projects and deadlines.
Communicates effectively with team members, stakeholders and all levels of management.
Assists with the creation and maintenance of Accessibility Best Practices documentation to host audit findings, remediation plans, best practices and recommendations. Documents training materials, tutorials, relevant accessibility links, third-party sites or integrations accessibility standards and governance.
REQUIRED

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.
Must be maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Must be students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university or a recent graduate.
Empathy, passion, and drive to ensure all customers have access to and the ability to use Costco websites and apps.
Excellent task management and organizational skills with ability to work collaboratively with multiple groups or self-directed as needed.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills to clearly communicate assistive technology needs and design decisions to multiple stakeholder groups.
Recommended
Accessibility experience or education with analysis, and design in a digital enterprise environment.
Knowledge of accessibility standards: W3C WCAG 2.1 AA.
Experience with Assistive Technology (e.g. screen readers, magnifiers, alternative input, etc.) for desktop and mobile.
Demonstrated proficiency with selecting appropriate UI patterns and applying user-centered design (UCD) methodologies to effectively solve accessibility design problems.
Understanding of responsive web design principles, techniques and frameworks.
Experience with front-end development technologies (HTML/CSS).
Costco warehouse, Ecommerce or retail experience is a plus.
