Position Summary

BoIA is looking for a seasoned Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead a team of Digital Accessibility Experts and collaborate with the Project Management team to ensure accuracy of client deliverables and deadlines, as well as oversee company support phase for clients as they remediate their digital assets. This position will be client-facing at times, often in a consultative aspect and the person filling the role will be required to collaborate with internal stakeholders, as well as clients, on all aspects of digital accessibility. This person will manage the accessibility department which consists of the team of SMEs who are responsible for a varying number of projects with varying levels of complexity and different phases of each project.

The Director of Digital Accessibility will:

Oversee and manage digital accessibility audits and projects
Lead the team of Accessibility Experts and be responsible for project assignments
Coach the team, retain the team and recruit as necessary
Act as liaison to Client Management teams who project manage client deliverables
Review internal processes and roll out improvements based on best practice recommendations
Be on the forefront of industry news and updates, including WCAG as it evolves
Construct and Integrate an environment of learning inside the department as well as company-wide
Review client-facing deliverables and provide accessible remediation solutions
Be the BoIA Accessibility Expert on client-facing consulting calls; Provide digital accessibility consulting to clients and assist them in creating a roadmap for remediation and instituting their internal Accessibility Policies
Act as internal Accessibility Expert

Requirements:

10+ years of experience with Accessibility testing, validating websites for WCAG 2.1 level A/AA compliance and Mobile Applications for WCAG Mobile Best Practices
10+ years using assistive tools for accessibility testing
Digital Development/Programming background a plus, 4+ years of experience working with HTML, CSS, Mobile and JavaScript is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of digital accessibility standards
Strong understanding of correct use and limitations of WAI-ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications)
Mobile testing experience (iOS, Android etc.) required
Accessibility Training experience a plus
Prior experience in leading a team and managing projects
PDF Accessibility knowledge and/or experience a plus
Excellent Communication Skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
