Technical Program Manager - Accessibility

6+ years of experience as a technical program manager delivering large, cross-functional projects
2+ years of experience in Accessibility and Universal design
Demonstrated experience leading large, cross-organizational and global projects
Technical background in current web technologies and web accessibility
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Creative critical thinker with experience in making implementation tradeoffs
Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions to all organizational levels


Are you passionate about accessibility, usability, and inclusive design? AWS Training and Certification (T&C) is hiring a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to build and lead an Accessibility Program. T&C delivers programs and products to help people develop the skills they need to use AWS services. We are committed to building content and technology that helps people learn from across diverse abilities.

This role is inherently cross-functional and will engage with teams and leaders throughout the organization to drive an accessibility program that directly impacts all T&C customers. This individual will work directly with training content creators, product managers, marketing, user researchers, UX designers, and engineers, serving as the single-threaded leader accountable for the program strategy and top-level initiatives. The ability to deal with ambiguity, set realistic but firm expectations, gain buy-in from a broad set of functional, program, and product partners, and clearly communicate to all levels of stakeholders are essential requirements. This role will need to insist on the highest standards to influence the prioritization of accessibility initiatives.

Responsibilities

Define an accessibility program for T&C content and learning experiences that includes a strategy, top-level initiatives, and program performance metric
Form and lead a council of T&C accessibility owners to ensure a holistic program, strategy, and coordinated execution of initiatives
Facilitate vendor engagements related to accessibility evaluations, remediation, and training
Define accessibility criteria, testing methods, and success metrics toward continuous accessibility conformance
Facilitate usability studies with diverse audiences to influence the product roadmap in alignment with T&C accessibility guidelines
Facilitate documentation of accessibility conformance
Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on program status to T&C stakeholders and leaders
Represent T&C as an AWS accessibility ally to Amazon-wide initiatives


Proven analytical thinking, skills in metrics creation and project management, attention to details, and exceptional organizational skills
Strong customer focus and ability to demonstrate pragmatic decision-making
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent industry experience
