The Accessibility Analyst supports accessibility and quality activities on HCA Healthcare’s digital products, including consumer-facing websites, social media channels and digital touch points. This role has experience in creating valuable and actionable accessibility documentation, passion for advocating for users encountering all accessibility challenges, and can clearly articulate how a product should work in the digital and physical world related to accessibility considerations.

This role requires close collaboration with cross functional teams while being a subject matter expert in current WCAG standards across web, native, and other digital access points while supporting product teams in their efforts to make products compliant. Additionally, this role will help test, inspect, partner, and drive accessibility best practices throughout the software development lifecycle with the end user in mind.

General Responsibilities:

Partner with business stakeholders and peer technologists to create common business and user goals.
Conduct annual automated and manual audits of a representative sampling of websites and native applications that are in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Establish communication and monitor implementation of corrective actions based on audit findings.
Collaborate with UX designers, product analysts and owners, business analysts, and software engineers on accessibility requirements.
Develop and maintain standard templates for testing applications for compliance.
Communicate the status of testing, including reporting of overall test results.
Implement human-centered design methodologies and processes that leverage ongoing feedback, user insights and information.
Translate user research insights into actions by partnering with product and software engineering colleagues to prioritize and execute on them.
Create and maintain resource materials and documentation.
Contribution to, compliance with, and encouragement of organizational standards, such as accessibility, design system standards, and identity and branding guidelines.
Foster a UX-centric culture through teaching, sharing, and coaching others on accessibility best practices.
Ability to present accessibility standards to stakeholders in order to garner empathy, create consensus and collaboration, and foster a culture of accessibility.
Perform detailed quality assurance audits and evaluations on new sites and native apps to ensure websites are accurate and follow company guidelines.
Provide training and education for colleagues and partners at all levels of the organization.
Identify content issues – such as incorrect text and image formatting, broken links, and misapplied tags.
Regularly track and report on progress and trends using spreadsheets and status reports.
Provide regular reporting on identified accessibility issues.
Provide UAT support where needed.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in human computer interaction, user experience, product design, graphic design, or associated field – Preferred
1+ year(s) of experience in user experience or accessibility role(s) – Required

Other Required Qualifications:

Empathetic and growth mindset with a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and methodologies.
Knowledge and experience with web technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Xml, and Web content management systems).
Understanding and ability to use relevant accessibility tools and platforms (e.g. Deque, web technologies etc.).
Developing in thoughtful conversations and stakeholder interactions in a way that drives productive user-centered solutions with UX-thinking at its core.
Knowledge of current WCAG accessibility standards and guidelines.
Developing ability to influence accessibility best practices while working closely with cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience with assistive technology devices including but not limited to screen magnification, screen readers (iOS VoiceOver and Android Talkback), alternative keyboard inputs, across web and native.
Familiarity with scripting languages desirable (JS, Vue, React, Angular, and more)
Knowledge of disability law including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504).
Experience with accessibility audit and quality assurance tools and processes.
Developing mentoring colleagues as they learn and grow in accessibility best practices.
Developing ability to present complex information succinctly to various audiences verbally and in writing.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong ability to work both independently and on a team.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Occasional Travel: The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis.
