The work
One of DXD's most important contributions to J.P. Morgan is the UI Toolkit-a design system solution for building web and mobile user interfaces at scale that incorporate best-of-breed interactions and visual design.

Through our partnership with CIB Technology, it helps the firm deliver cohesive, ADA-compliant experiences across organizational boundaries, products and channels.

As an Accessibility SME , you'll support the evolution of the UI Toolkit. Collaborating with designers, developers, information architects, UX writers and product owners, you'll play a key role in helping us realize the vision-and define the next generation of user experience.
The Accessibility SME role
As a Senior Accessibility SME, you will work with the UI Toolkit team (e.g., leadership, designers and developers) to identify and resolve accessibility barriers on the Toolkit and its related products, based on the W3C WCAG 2.0 standards as well as compliance with the ADA, Section 508, the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act, and other related accessibility laws. You will bring a broad range of knowledge which will complement and strengthen an already dynamic, seasoned group of accessibility professionals. You will also collaborate with a broader community of accessibility SMEs to ensure there is consistency and cohesion in the accessibility evaluations and recommendations being made across the CIB.
Qualifications

10+ years of experience working as an accessibility SME
Broad knowledge of accessibility barriers, as well as the tools and techniques for overcoming them
Deep understanding of accessibility user needs and thought patterns, garnered from long practice of working closely with users over many years
Knowledge of accessibility standards: WCAG 2.0 & 2.1, ADA Section 508, 21st Century Video and Communications Act
Knowledge of international laws is a plus
Ability to discern accessibility issues from wireframes and storyboards, and comfort in challenging design solutions if there is considerable accessibility benefit
Knowledge of accepted accessibility patterns and best practices
Ability to analyze and employ problem-solving skills to recommend the best solution
Ability to identify and abstract out common accessibility problems, and document them as reusable patterns for consumption by design and development teams
Detailed knowledge of a broad range of technology platforms and channels, including:
Accessibility on various platforms including Windows and MacOS
Mobile accessibility on various platforms including Android and iOS
Video and other digital media is a plus
PDF and other document standards is a plus
Hands-on knowledge of assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers, magnifiers, alternative input devices), particularly: NVDA, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and ZoomText
Knowledge of specific software development technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
Forensic understanding of WAI-ARIA and its' effects on Assistive Technologies
Ability to analyze code for accessibility issues
Ability to guide and coach colleagues in one-on-one, small group, or large forum environments
Ability to work in both a team environment and under one's own initiative
Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail
Must be proactive and results-driven, and have proven track record of execution and delivery in fast-moving environments
Up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, and emerging technologies
Be a structured, analytical, and strategic thinker, and a go-getter who organically looks at processes and problems with a sleeves rolled-up mentality to solve them collaboratively
Be proactive in identifying accessible solutions which are in harmony with the user experience of the CIB design language
Have a deep sense of teamwork, and employ a walls-down approach to collaboration
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate concepts to and influence people at all levels with diverse points of view across a broad variety of job functions
Ability to forge strong relationships and build a wide network throughout the firm
A commercial mindset to deliver short, medium- and long-term strategies to resolve accessibility issues
Demonstrated ability to manage tight delivery timelines and calmness under intense pressure
Experience with Confluence, Jira and SharePoint
Experience working with Scrum and Agile methodologies
