**Position Overview**
The **Accessibility Coordinator** is an integral member of the MyLearningCoach (MLC) team, dedicated to helping students with disabilities overcome barriers to learning and access the resources they need to succeed. This role involves working closely with students and post-secondary accessibility professionals to identify learning challenges, guide students through verification of disability and grant-funding processes, and connect them with appropriate academic and accessibility supports.
By collaborating with students, coaches, post-secondary offices, and internal teams, the Accessibility Coordinator ensures seamless navigation of assessments, documentation, and funding processes. Through fostering self-advocacy, providing individualized guidance, and facilitating smooth service delivery, this role advances MLC’s mission of promoting full and equitable access to post-secondary education for all students with disabilities.
**Key Responsibilities: Student Support**
* Educate students about MLC’s mission and available services.
* Conduct comprehensive initial consultations, assess learning needs, and guide students through documentation and eligibility requirements to access support services and learning accommodations.
* Identify and connect students with appropriate services, including academic coaching (academic strategy instruction, tutoring, assistive technology consultation and coaching) and assessment services.
* Facilitate referrals for assessments and de-brief results to support next steps.
* Assist students with registering with post-secondary accessibility offices.
* Liaise with post-secondary schools and stakeholders to advocate for student needs and ensure seamless service delivery.
* Maintain regular communication and follow-up with students and coaches throughout their academic journey.
* Provide assessment consultations, academic coaching services, assistive technology consultations, and academic and accessibility advising services to students when required.
**Operational & Administrative Support**
* Collaborate with the admin team to refine processes and maintain accurate, confidential records.
* Follow policy and procedures of internal controls.
* Support recruitment and onboarding of coaches.
* Serve as an instructional leader to coaches and provide functional supervision as needed.
* Design and maintain efficient workflows for student intake, scheduling, and service delivery.
* Build and maintain relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and professional associations; negotiate partnership and service agreements.
* Coordinate virtual and in-person events, such as community outreach, workshops, and new student orientations.
**Educational Leadership**
* Guide and support coaches to foster a collaborative team environment.
* Organize and facilitate professional development and onboarding initiatives.
* Collect and analyze data to inform program improvement and service delivery.
* Develop and distribute surveys to gather feedback from students, coaches, and stakeholders.
* Engage in recruitment activities to attract students, coaches, and stakeholders.
* Create and disseminate resources to promote student advocacy and awareness of MLC services.
* Contribute to strategic planning and organizational development initiatives.
**Preferred Skills and Qualifications**
* Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field. A Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work is preferred.
* Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities in educational settings (preferably post-secondary).
* Experience in understanding and interpreting educational-psychological assessments.
* Ability to administer Level B assessments is considered an asset.
* Strong knowledge of accessibility practices and accommodations in post-secondary education.
* At least three or more years of experience in educational leadership or coordination.
* Knowledge of assistive technologies, legal frameworks (human rights, accessibility legislation).
* Strong organizational, case-management, documentation and confidentiality skills. Attention to detail is important.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong written and oral communication skills, problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to navigate complex/sensitive situations.
* Proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
* Experience updating and maintaining websites and social media platforms is an asset.
**Employment Details**
* Salary: $70,000-$100,000/year
* Hours: 35 hours/week with a flexible schedule
* Location: Remote Work.
* Perks: Flexible Schedule. Up to 3 weeks of scheduled vacation, sick days and paid winter break closure
