Student Digital Accessibility Liaison

South Dakota State University Human Resources is seeking motivated students to join our team as Student Digital Accessibility Liaisons. This role offers hands-on experience in digital accessibility, supporting faculty, staff, and students in creating accessible digital content.

Key Responsibilities:
* Participate in training sessions on accessibility tools and best practices.
* Review and assist with remediation of digital documents (Word, PowerPoint, PDF, etc.) to meet accessibility standards.
* Help faculty and staff format course materials and communications for accessibility.
* Conduct accessibility checks using approved tools (e.g., Microsoft Accessibility Checker).
* Support the creation of accessible multimedia content, including captioning and transcripts.
* Utilize a digital ticketing system to manage and track accessibility tasks.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Basic understanding of digital accessibility principles and common barriers (e.g., missing alternative text, inaccessible PDFs).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and ability to create accessible documents.
* Experience with PDF editing tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Pro) for tagging and remediation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing content.
* Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
* Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
* Professional collaboration with faculty, staff, and peers.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
