Job Description Summary:
Reporting to and working closely with the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Digital Strategy in Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC), the Director of Web Strategy is a strategic partner helping to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of the university's web presence to enhance user experience and digital engagement. This role requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, web design and development experience, and cross-functional collaboration to align websites with strategic goals and measurable results. This role is client-facing with campus leaders and hands-on with internal web and SMC teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing web strategy aligned with marketing goals
- Leading website governance to ensure brand consistency, usability, and accessibility
- Collaborating with marketing teams, content owners, IS&T, and legal on data privacy, security, and compliance
- Managing web technologies and marketing technology stack
- Overseeing website architecture, UX/UI design, ongoing enhancements, and performance
- Coding websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, WordPress, GitHub, and APIs
- Optimizing SEO, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility (WCAG)
- Leading, mentoring, and managing a small team and relationships with external vendors
- Establishing KPIs and using data-driven insights to optimize website conversion and engagement
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 6+ years experience in web design/development, UX/UI and web strategy
- 4+ years experience in web programming using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, WordPress, GitHub, REST, APIs
- Strong understanding of CMS platforms, SEO, marketing technologies such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, SEMrush, SiteImprove
- Proven leadership managing teams and projects
- Strong project management and communication skills

This is a full-time onsite position in Orange, CA. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the US and complete a background screening.
