This position is responsible for providing direct student support related to accessibility and disability accommodations within the office of Disability Services. Under the leadership of the Director, the Disabilities Services Accessibility Specialist meets with students for Access Planning Meetings, reviews accommodation requests, supporting documentation, and approves accommodation requests in consultation with the Director and Executive Director. This position is also responsible for working with students and faculty to ensure campus media and technology formats are accessible to all users. Key responsibilities include conducting access planning meetings, reviewing disability documentation, assisting students in transition to college, liaising between students and faculty on accommodation needs, ensuring legal compliance of accommodations, maintaining confidential records, and providing expert knowledge in accommodation strategies. The role also involves coordinating and preparing media and materials in alternative formats and providing training on accessible technology. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field, experience with assistive technologies, understanding of disability issues and accommodations, and strong communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, certification in disability services, and experience with accommodation management software. The position is full-time and hybrid eligible after initial onboarding.
