Lead UX Designer – Accessibility & Inclusive Design

We’re partnering with a major UK organisation to recruit a Lead UX Designer who will lead the charge on accessibility and inclusive design. This is more than a design role — it’s an opportunity to transform how digital products are built, ensuring that accessibility is embedded from strategy through to delivery.

Accessibility isn’t a compliance checkbox here: it’s a core value. You’ll play a central role in raising standards, challenging assumptions, and making sure every product and service works for everyone — regardless of ability, device, or context.

The Role

* Lead accessibility strategy across digital products, embedding inclusive design principles into every stage of the product lifecycle.
* Be the organisation’s accessibility authority, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 and driving adoption of best practice beyond the minimum requirements.
* Partner with product leaders to shape roadmaps that prioritise accessible experiences and measurable inclusion outcomes.
* Champion accessibility in research and testing, ensuring diverse user needs are represented and barriers are removed.
* Coach, mentor, and upskill designers, engineers, and product managers in accessibility — building capability across the organisation.
* Produce and review designs, prototypes, and journeys that demonstrate how accessibility and usability go hand in hand.
* Collaborate with Service Designers to ensure inclusion across end-to-end customer journeys, not just single touchpoints.
* Work with delivery teams to uphold accessibility standards in build, QA, and post-launch evaluation.
* Act as a visible advocate for accessibility, influencing senior stakeholders and setting clear, measurable goals for inclusive design.

About You

* A proven accessibility and inclusive design specialist, with deep practical experience applying WCAG 2.2 across web and native experiences.
* Comfortable being the “go-to” expert — confident advising on design, code, research, and policy-level discussions.
* Skilled at running accessibility audits, inclusive research, and usability testing with assistive technologies.
* Passionate about mentoring and coaching teams to build accessibility capability at scale.
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to embed accessibility principles at roadmap and portfolio level.
* Experienced in designing and prototyping accessible, user-centred digital experiences.
* Collaborative, pragmatic, and able to balance high accessibility standards with business and technical constraints.
* Motivated by impact — committed to ensuring digital services are not only compliant, but genuinely inclusive.

Why Apply?

* Competitive salary + annual bonus
* 15% pension contribution (9% during probation)
* 28 days holiday + buy/sell option
* Private Medical Insurance
* Electric/Hybrid car schemes, Cycle to Work, life assurance
* Full wellbeing and healthcare support
* Generous family leave policies
