Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for a Director of Student Accessibility Services.

**About the Role**

Reporting to the Acting Vice President for Student Success, Well-Being, and Belonging and supervising 1-2 student employees, the Director of Student Accessibility Services is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating programs, services, and procedures in support of undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities.

Specific duties include the following:

* Evaluate, verify, and interpret documentation related to disabilities (physical and mental), emotional support animals (ESAs), and service animals to develop reasonable accommodations for students under the Americans with Disabilities Act and its amendments and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act in the classroom, student residences, and other programs as needed
* Work with various campus stakeholders and partners including, but not limited to, Admission, Academic Affairs, Graduate Programs and Continuing Studies, Housing and Residence Life, Health and Counseling Services, Information Technology, Facilities Management, and Campus Security to ensure that services, appropriate accommodations, and aids are provided to students with disabilities in a holistic, universally-designed manner
* Collaborate with enrolled students to identify barriers to full participation in the curricular and co-curricular environments and determine appropriate accommodations
* Maintain document tracking and file maintenance processes and procedures for the office
* Provide consultation, information, resources, and referrals about student accessibility and disabilities to prospective and enrolled students, as well as faculty and staff
* Provide campus-wide disability and accessibility programming, training, and workshops
* Collaborate with faculty to advance inclusive pedagogy into the curricula
* Advocate on the behalf of students with faculty and staff to ensure proper facilitation of academic, program, and housing accommodations
* Coordinate and serve on the Disability Advisory Council
* Provide ongoing case management, follow-up, and support for students regarding accommodations
* Work with student organizations focused on supporting students with disabilities
* Support and develop a sense of belonging for students
* Assess programs offered, complete reports as needed, and incorporate the data to implement programmatic changes if needed
* Effectively manage the department budget
* Supervise student employees

**Position Qualifications**

Successful applicants must have the following qualifications and experience:

* Bachelor’s degree
* Minimum of five years of relevant experience
* Expertise in the research, interpretation, and application of the Americans with Disabilities Act and its amendments, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and civil rights statutes as they pertain to student disability issues in the academic setting
* Training in and demonstrated ability to interpret educational and medical documentation for students with varied learning, behavioral, and medical (physical and mental) disabilities
* Working knowledge of accommodations for students in post-secondary programs in various settings including the classroom, field research, and internships
* Familiarity with the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) and its practice guidelines
* Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to serving people with disabilities in post-secondary education
* Understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
* Understanding of and familiarity with assistive technologies and support systems
* Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to develop and maintain social media connections
* Abilities to assess programmatic success and adjust as needed
* Abilities to successfully manage multiple projects and work independently and collaboratively
* Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred candidates will have the following:

* Bachelor’s degree in higher education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or related field
* Experience with small, residential, private higher education institutions
