The Accessibility Services Specialist is responsible for coordinating and scheduling in class support, assistive technology services, and alternative format textbooks and course materials that work with individual technology needs for students with disabilities in accordance with their OCC Accommodation Plans. The position supports the Assistant Director of Disability Services in determining necessary accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Amendments Act, 2008, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and provides training to all students in the use of academic technology. In addition, this position will; serve as support for issues regarding students with disabilities to ensure equal access.

Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months
* Coordinates assistive technology and in class support services such as requests for accessible furniture, alternate format text, sign language interpreters, captioning/CART, scribes and note takers; readers, adaptive testing and other accommodations required.
* Instructs students on the use of assistive technology while accurately maintaining and tracking equipment loans.
* Evaluates assistive technology and software needs campus wide and makes recommendations for software and hardware upgrades.
* Provides assistance with accommodation plans and recommendations for students with disabilities based on the immediate supervisor's interpretation of case file documentation.
* Assists in the development, coordination, and implementation of faculty/staff workshops on disability law, accommodations, and ADA compliance; conducts workshops in partnership with the immediate supervisor.
* Works with instructors, faculty, disability services personnel and students to determine potential accessibility obstacles related to coursework and determine appropriate reasonable accommodations and technology to address these barriers.
* Responds to inquiries regarding the program based on established guidelines via various modes of communication with faculty, administration, and parents in the service of supporting students' access to opportunities.
* Performs academic advising, coaching, and supportive services as needed with particular emphasis on provision of support during peak registration periods.
* Ensures reasonable accommodation processes are timely, effective and accurately recorded in system records.

* Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field.
* At least three years of directly related counseling or advising experience in higher education and knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
* Certification as a Learning Disability Technical Consultant (LDTC) or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or at least 2 years demonstrated experience working with college level students with disabilities in lieu of certification.
* Experience working with and managing adaptive technology and related services.
* Ability to serve as team or project leader.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to create new or standard reports and documents.
* Master's degree in Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work or related field.
