Prometric is currently looking for an Accessibility Specialist to join Customer Experience (CX) team who can lead on all things accessibility. You will lead the charge in ensuring that accessibility is considered across Prometric’s applications and services, and that best practice guidelines are followed.
Duties & responsibilities
Work closely with the Senior User Experience and the VP Accessibility to shape what accessibility means at Prometric.
Define a testing and auditing strategy that can be rolled out to across the organisation, looking at how we make effective use of manual and automated testing, internal and external audits
Work with the rest of the CX team to create a best-in-class Design System.
To follow closely changes to standards and specifications (such as WCAG, WAI-ARIA, CSS and HTML) which could affect the Design System development and wider developments across the business.
Ensure that the ongoing contributions to the Design System follow best practices for accessibility and meet accessibility standards.
Propose changes to process as standards change and evolve.
Ensure the accessibility bugs and issues are prioritized appropriately.
Advocate, evangelise, and mentor development teams to improve knowledge and understanding of accessibility best practices.
Ensure accessibility conformance is maintained.
Work with 3rd party testing organisations where appropriate.
Qualifications & experience
Have extensive knowledge of Section 508, ADA, WCAG, WAI-ARIA
Knowledge and experience of using a range of assistive technologies
3-5 years of experience working with enterprise applications
Experience of using Web Components
Strong brainstorming skills with the ability to confidently communicate with cross functional collaborative teams.
Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
Working knowledge of Design Systems and their application across a range of products
Experience of working in multiple work streams in complex agile environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
