The Quality Assurance & Accessibility Compliance Web Developer completes assessments and on-going improvements on quality assurance and compliance of Sinclair’s web content with the Sinclair brand standards, web policies, web accessibility, and applicable accreditations and regulations. This person will facilitate maintaining Sinclair’s high quality of standard for the web experience and its impact on College missions.

This position will be responsible for ensuring Sinclair’s compliance with its Web Accessibility Policy, overseeing the accessibility of Sinclair’s online content. The person in this position receives complaints concerning accessibility and works them through to resolution. This person will also conduct audits of online content, identifying accessibility gaps and remedying those, and will be responsible for accessibility training for faculty and staff.

This position will be a specialist within the marketing department and provide assistance both inside the department and throughout the college for web accessibility and compliance needs. They will work closely with Sinclair’s Accessibility Services, Legal Counsel, Student Affairs, eLearning and IT offices.


Principal Accountabilities

Ensure a user-centered focus on web content quality and ensure compliance with applicable web policies as needed to remain compliant

Audit and test web content for quality assurance and compliance as needed by Marketing and IT offices; ensuring compliance of web content with applicable laws and regulations, and accreditation requirements

Coordinate, review and improve online content quality, working with related departments and stakeholders

Maintain current knowledge of applicable compliance laws and regulations, accreditation needs, and certification of knowledge

Research technology tools used for testing quality assurance and assistive technology devices, and stay current on available/usable tools for testing quality assurance

Measure and report on audit findings as to compliance

Create, conduct, manage and report on quality assurance and compliance training in all modalities for all Sinclair employees as required per the Web Accessibility Policy, and cross department training as needed for quality assurance

Work with faculty and staff to respond to questions about compliance or accreditation related to online content, providing assistance meeting compliance or accreditation

Receive, investigate, and resolve complaints concerning quality assurance and compliance of online content

Document and track complaints throughout the process, escalating any quality assurance or compliance issues as needed to related departments and stakeholders, including recommended corrective options

Successfully work with any outside web development vendors involved in quality assurance or compliance concerns, reviewing VPATs and providing contract compliance options


Requirements

Minimum of an Associate degree in Computer Information Systems required

Minimum 2 years’ experience in Web Content, Website maintenance or related field required

Ability to identify new accessibility initiatives and projects that need to be addressed required

Certified as a Web Accessibility expert (such as IAAP CPACC, WAS, JAWs) required

Knowledge of editing web content HTML5, CSS3, Javascript required

Ability to test, communicate, and fix website quality, compliance and accessibility issues on different assistive technology, browsers, devices, and operating systems required

Detail oriented with attention to accuracy and enthusiastic about quality online user experience required

Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 and 2.1, and WAI-ARI standards required

Understanding of accessibility law and in particular how it relates to web content, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act required

Knowledge of web communication accessibility barriers, such as social media, email, SMS required

Strong communication and collaboration skills to include but not limited to writing, proofreading and speaking required

Ability to successfully work with diverse groups of people, both from the public and from within the organization required
