Job Purpose

Conceptualizes and designs solutions that are flexible enough to display properly across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices. Works collaboratively with others to understand and relate business concepts into engaging and intuitive solutions, such as sketches, user flows, wireframes, mockups and/or prototypes. Also conducts UX research and applies usability methodologies when necessary, in addition to mentoring and supporting other team members. Ensures a shared UX vision across organizational teams.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Designs professional, engaging solutions for complex applications, and iterates based on user feedback research.
Practices data-driven design to achieve measurable results and collaborates on requirements utilizing data collected through analytics, user research, and usability studies.
Establishes and maintains an information architecture that is well organized, user friendly, and presents a consistent corporate look and feel.
Reviews all elements of design from a human-computer interaction perspective and provides rationale for solutions that ensure maximum usability.
Evaluates and/or provides high level estimates, and works with stakeholders, project management, and development teams to communicate changes as project requirements evolve.
Consults with management and development teams to prioritize needs and resolve conflicts.
Provides deliverables and implements solutions in a timely manner.
Researches and establishes UX/UI standards, techniques and methods.
Promotes quality through design reviews, mentoring User Experience Designers, and enforcing design standards.
Conduct design reviews an performs accessibility audits of digital properties for compliance with WCAG specifications.
Drives continuous improvements in user experience, usability, and UI design.
Other Duties
Adheres to all standards and procedures as necessary to ensure the timeliness and quality of all work.
Assists in additional projects as directed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent attention to detail, and ability to create wireframes, user flows, mockups, interactive design and prototypes.
Excellent understanding of information architecture.
Excellent knowledge of executing usability methodologies such as card sorting, heuristic evaluations, personas, and ethnographic interviewing.
Excellent understanding of responsive design.
Excellent aesthetic sense and ability to think creatively.
Excellent knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Excellent conceptual understanding JavaScript.
Excellent conceptual understanding of dynamic data structures.
Excellent conceptual understanding of server-side languages
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent orientation toward customer service.
Expert understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Experience Designer [Xd], Illustrator, and InDesign), and related UI development software.
Ability to work with digital assistive technologies, such as NVDA, JAWS, Narrator, and VoiceOver, as well as accessibility testing tools to enhance the user experience.
Ability to work with Microsoft Office.
Ability to research and communicate new UX/UI design trends and methodologies.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment to achieve desired results.
Ability to work extended hours as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or education.
5-8 years of relevant experience required.
HCI Experience preferred.
Experience with WCAG remediation preferred.
Experience in a mature and scaled Agile environment preferred.
