Day to Day

You’ll be part of the technical team focused on meeting our company accessibility goals and our legal requirements to build accessible products. You’ll work with partner teams across the company to develop accessibility tooling, improve the accessibility of our products, and fundamentally build software with accessibility in mind. Your work will directly contribute to the Indeed top-level goal of helping 30M job seekers facing barriers find employment.

As a senior software engineer, you’ll be expected to be a pro in your field and build software with quality, scale, and accessibility in mind. You’ll follow product development best practices, while at the same time helping us to improve our pipeline to include accessibility checkpoints along the way.

You will enjoy a casual work environment, flexible hours, and great compensation and benefits. Our team is global. Upon offices reopening post-COVID, all roles on this team will have the flexibility to either return to the office or remain remote.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain accessibility automation tooling.
Be a point person, resource and advocate for accessibility - respond to Slack and email questions and provide remediation advice.
Train others in the practical application of accessibility guidelines and using assistive technology .
Audit web pages, mobile apps, and documents for accessibility violations.
Work side by side with other product teams at Indeed to accomplish cross company impact
Skills/Competencies

Deep knowledge of WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and building accessible software
5+ years of experience in software development
Experienced in HTML, CSS Javascript and ARIA
Experienced in assistive technology (mobile and desktop) : JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Talkback
Experience leading/mentoring other engineers
Proven sense of ownership, urgency and operational excellence

US Remote: 127,000-183,000 USD per year
Austin Metro Area: 127,000-183,000 USD per year
New York City Metro Area: 159,000 - 231,000 USD per year
San Francisco Metro Area: 168,000 - 244,000 USD per year
Seattle Metro Area: 158,000 - 230,000 USD per year

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
