Department Overview

Digital Technology & Innovation (DTI) Front End Development team develops UI screens for all Digital applications. It is a Center of Excellence team responsible to create the reusable REACT framework components, process and tools required for the UI development of Digital applications.


About the Role

UI Engineer with excellent design, hands on development & technical skills along with good interpersonal skills, capable of working in highly critical transformation projects.


Responsibilities

Develop reusable UI components, define accessibility & governance and rollout the components across the digital channel group

Develop applications with good usability principles, cross-browser compatibility, web security (XSRF, cross-site scripting defense), accessibility, Markup standards, Last mile performance (minify, closure tools, sprites) and HTML document architecture.

Acclimate to new technologies and situations with the vision of providing best customer experience

Meet expected deliverables and quality standards across multiple releases

Collaborate with team to design, develop, test and refine deliverables that meet the objectives

Adopt to Behavior Driven Development and adhere to Test Driven Development

Perform code reviews and implement improvement plans(ASE5 & above)

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Software Engineer

Provide design and architectural solutions to the business problems

Organize, lead and motivate development team members to meet expected deliverables and quality standards across multiple releases

Directs and assists senior developers and perform code reviews and implement improvement plans

Conduct frequent brainstorming sessions and motivate team and drive innovations

 Mandatory Skills

Core UI Development experience with expertise in MERN (MongoDB, Express Server, React, and Node) stack and hands on in JQuery, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.

Hands on experience with Unit Testing (Jest, Enzyme & testing-library preferred)/ TDD - Scripting & Automated Testing using Web Driver IO, Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD)

Hands on experience developing functional based components and experience working in Hooks, Redux, Memo, HOC.

Hands on experience developing Accessibility compliance applications

Hands on experience in packaging and deploying UI deliverables

Strong in OOAD, asynchronous programming, design and implementation of web applications, Design Patterns.

Product & Design Knowledge - Experience with Product Development, Large Enterprise Scale Integrations (preferably in design/development of customer facing large enterprise applications)

Experience in Digital Banking/ecommerce or any complex customer facing applications

Excellent business communication skills

Senior Software Engineer - Experience with Enterprise Mobility Applications Performance Tuning, Scaling and Security Best Practices


Desired Skills

Knowledge in UX design tools

Knowledge in CI/CD, Devops

Knowledge in Cross Browser Validation tools and performance monitoring tools

Software Senior Engineer - Experience of handling larger teams working across one or more geographic territories or regions

About the Role

As a Senior Accessibility Specialist, you will be a trusted, respected, partner that works closely with either UX Professionals, Product Managers, and Engineering supporting our products, or in collaboration with internal teams including but not limited to Marketing, HR, Diversity & Inclusion and General Counsel supporting business readiness and employee experience initiatives. You will provide accessibility-related consulting and guidance to ensure all customers or employees can access and use our products and assets. You will also be a mentor to other Accessibility Specialists and assist in educating and promoting accessibility in culture and practice within the organization. To be effective in this role, you must have demonstrated expert level understanding of accessibility, assistive technology, and need a unique skill set of problem-solving, strong communication, and working as part of a team. We promote an agile, collaborative, supportive environment where diverse thinking, innovative design, and experimentation is welcomed and encouraged.


Job Responsibilities
BA/BS in information science, information design, computer science, related field, or equivalent industry experience. Looking for Accessibility SME/Senior Accessibility SME Expert level understanding of WCAG 2.1 (AA) guidelines. Basic understanding of WCAG 2.2 (AA) guidelines Expert level understanding of assistive technologies and accessibility-related software including JAWS®, NVDA, and Dragon® NaturallySpeaking. Demonstrated experience providing implementation direction and requirements to design, front-end development, engineering, and internal business teams such as marketing or customer support. Demonstrated experience improving and remediating for accessibility by applying or leveraging expertise in ARIA, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Expected Years of Accessibility Experience
Senior Accessibility SME – 6+

Good to Have:
One or more Accessibility certification


Desired Skills
Knowledge in Screen readers like JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover, Talkback Knowledge in Accessibility automation tool Knowledge in Cross Browser Accessibility testing. Native accessibility testing and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate with Design System team to create and document composable UI elements in several environments (Figma, HTML/CSS) leveraging system foundations and patterns.
Knowledge of document accessibility and remediation, including PDF.
General awareness of Section 508, ADA, AODA, and EN 301 549.
Experience and understanding of Agile development practices.
Ability to mentor other Accessibility Specialists.
Ability to work collaboratively and productively both with diverse teams and independently.
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
In-depth knowledge in Native app accessibility testing and Bluetooth keyboard testing for devices
