Serve as an IT Accessibility Specialist with a focus on software and web accessibility. Evaluate websites and software applications for accessibility conformance. Consult with system owners and vendors on remediation strategies. Provide regular training and support at all levels to improve digital accessibility. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:

30% - Essential - Evaluation and Review - Evaluate the accessibility of websites, electronic learning materials, and software applications with manual testing, automated tools, and assistive technologies. Review Accessibility Conformance Reports, software demonstrations, and documentation to advise teams on accessible solutions.

30% - Essential - Reporting and Remediation - Prioritize and report accessibility defects and their impacts. Provide technical guidance and recommend strategies to remediate barriers.

30% - Essential - Training and Support - Provide regular training, workshops, and support at all levels to improve digital accessibility. Create reference guides and instructional materials. Advise employees on policies, regulations, and standards for accessible information and communication technology.

10% - Essential - Professional Development - Stay abreast of emerging assistive technologies, instructional technologies, standards, and requirements. Attend seminars and conferences relating to digital accessibility. Acquire new skills, knowledge, and abilities as required by the job. Participate in personal and professional development activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - A bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, computer science (information technology), mathematics, statistics; management information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Work Experience: 3+ years of work experience in digital accessibility testing, reporting, and training. Demonstrated understanding of WCAG, ATAG, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, WAI-ARIA, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver. 5+ years of work experience in digital accessibility testing, reporting, and training. Experience in accessibility testing in mobile environments (Android, iOS) and multiple operating systems (Windows, Mac). IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist Certification. Trusted Tester Conformance Test Process for Web Certification

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
