THE POSITION

Pennsylvania's Office of Accessibility within the Office of Information Technology is looking for you! The Accessibility Lead for Accessible Documents and Language Access Services is responsible for creating and implementing accessibility strategies for the creation of accessible documents (Word, Excel, PPT, PDF, etc.), digital translation and other language access initiatives so that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania makes its information and services available to citizens and employees with disabilities as well as those with limited English proficiency. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Accessibility Lead reports to the Chief Accessibility Officer in the Office of Accessibility within the Office of Information Technology. Some responsibilities of this position include leading efforts to establish and manage best practices, standards, guidelines, and policy for accessible documents and language access within the commonwealth, consulting with agency stakeholders, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, DGS Procurement and Agency Language Access Coordinators, and maintaining knowledge of current developments and language access (lep.gov) to teach and guide others.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment.
Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, 3 days a week in the office. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Ten years of professional information technology experience; or
Six years of professional information technology experience and a bachelor’s degree; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Conditions of Employment:

ITIL Foundations Certification is necessary upon hire or obtained within a period of time after hire.

Additional Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with language access (lep.gov).
Experience testing documents (manual, automated, and with assistive technologies such as JAWS, Dragon, Naturally speaking and ZoomText).
Knowledge of Information Technology project management principles and techniques.
Knowledge of Information Technology strategic planning concepts.
Certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP).

Legal Requirements:

The selected candidate for this position must undergo a fingerprint-based records check to be in compliance with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS).
